the first ward He had been very ill for several months I and his death was expected- Mr Edwards was born in Georgia sixtyeight years ago and had been living in Ocala for twenty years His boyhood was spent at Connell Pond in this county At the outbreak of I the civil scar he volunteered and I went to the front with General Owens I and throughout the conflict he was a I gallant soldier He was a devoted member of the Baptist church was a- very exemplary citizen an excellent husband and loving father and his place will be hard to till Mr Ed ¬ wards leaves to mourn his death a j wile four sons MessrsNortoii John- L K Edwards Mayor W J Ed1 wards and one daughter Mrs Henry I D Stokes and many other relatives and friends to whom we extend our I sympathy- The funeral will take place this afternoon from the Baptist church atI 330 oclock Tne Confederate Vet- erans ¬ will attend the funeral in a I body An Exciting Runaway Yesterday afternoon between 230 and 3 oclock quite an exciting run in the BrownBaskin I senatorial cantest case was presented to the senate this forenoon- at 1114 The reported stated that the members of the committee were of the opinion that C M Brown had permanently removed 1 from the 20th Senatorial District prior to the election of Dr J G Baskin i The committee declared the election of Dr Baskin valid i and recommended that C M Brown be unseated and that Baskin- be seated as senator from the 20th district j The report to the committee which was unanimous was re ¬ ceived and ordered spread upon the senate journal Upon the announcement of the decision of the committee Senator Brown arose and stated that the report was satisfactory- and I asked that he be allowed the honor of conducting Senator Baskin to his seat which brought forth great applause- On motion of Senators Jackson and Parris the report was adopted and the former moved that Mr Brown escort Senator Baskin to the bar to receive the oath of his office Justice Carter of the supreme
