The careful choice and selection of disposable and reusable gloves branded Reflexx, is based on decades of experience and a partnership system implemented with the producers, based on careful attention to quality and consistency of latex, nitrile, vinyl and polyethylene gloves, as well as on regular and continuous quality controls carried out at the departure and the arrival of the products prior to release into the market.

NITRILEIl Nitrile, comunemente utilizzato nella produzione dei guanti monouso, denominato anche NBR (Nitril Butadiene Rubber) è un materiale di origine sintetica derivato dalla polimerizzazione dell’Acrylonitrile e del Butadiene. È stato definito gomma sintetica in quanto la materia prima si trova allo stato liquido (come il lattice e a differenza del PVC-Vinile) e per la sua capacità di emulare la gomma in elasticità. I guanti in Nitrile nascono come alternativa ai guanti in Lattice per l’utilizzo nei soggetti allergici e per ridurre la sensibilizzazione alle proteine del Lattice, ma l’attuale largo sviluppo è dovuto anche alle loro caratteristiche di resistenza chimica e meccanica, che li rendono idonei anche in condizioni dove i guanti in Lattice e Vinile non lo sono. Inoltre, diversamente dal Lattice e dal Vinile, il Nitrile è idoneo al contatto con alimenti grassi, in linea con le normative vigenti sui Materiali ed Oggetti destinati al Contatto con Alimenti (MOCA), Dir. 2004/195/CEE - Reg. CE 10/2011.

NITRILENitrile, commonly used in the production of disposable gloves, also known as NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) is a material of synthetic origin derived from the polymerization of Butadiene and Acrylonitrile. It has been defined as synthetic rubber, as the raw material is produced in the liquid state (such as Latex and unlike the PVC-Vinyl) and for its ability to emulate rubber’s elasticity. Nitrile gloves were conceived as an alternative to Latex gloves for use in allergic subjects and to reduce the sensitization to Latex proteins, but the current large development is also due to their characteristics of chemical and mechanical resistance, which makes them suitable also in conditions where Latex gloves and Vinyl gloves are not. In addition, unlike Latex and Vinyl, Nitrile is suitable for contact with oily and fatty food, in line with current legislation on items and articles intended for contact with food (Dir 2004/195/EEC - CE Reg. 10/2011).

LATTICE NATURALEIl Lattice è una sostanza di origine naturale estratta dall’”albero della gomma” (Hevea Brasiliensis), coltivata principal-mente in Tailandia, Malesia, Indonesia e paesi del Sud Est Asiatico. È anche definito spesso gomma o caucciù. È il materiale naturale più elastico che si conosca. Fondamentale caratteristica è la capacità di riassumere la forma origi-nale quando sottoposto a pressione o allungamento. Per tale ragione è uno dei migliori materiali per la produzione di guanti. Questa straordinaria capacità elastica si riscontra infatti solo nella pelle umana. Come evidenziato nella tabella qui sotto, i guanti in lattice hanno molti punti a loro vantaggio. Lo svantaggio più grave, riguardante la sensibilizzazione e la conseguente allergia alle proteine del lattice, è stato un problema serio per diversi anni a partire dagli esordi della produzione dei guanti monouso (anni ‘90), ma attualmente è stato notevolmente ridimensionato grazie all’estrazione di molte proteine allergeniche del lattice (processo di deproteinizzazione) in fase di produzione.

NATURAL LATEXLatex is a natural material coming from ”rubber trees” (Hevea brasiliensis), cultivated mainly in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and South East Asian countries. It may also be called rubber or caoutchouc. It‘s the most resilient natural material ever known. A major feature is the ability of regaining the original shape when subjected to pressure or elongation. For this reason it is one of the best materials for the production of gloves. This unique elastic capacity in fact can only be found in the human skin. As shown in the below table, latex gloves have much to their advantage. The most severe disadvantage regarding the sensitization and subsequent allergies to latex proteins has been a serious problem for a number of years since the beginning of production of disposable gloves (‘90s), but has now been reduced significantly due to the extraction of many allergenic proteins of the latex (deproteinization process) during the production phase.

VINILEI guanti in Vinile sono prodotti dai granuli del PVC (Poli Vinil Cloruro), una delle plastiche di maggior consumo, e da plasticizzanti (per lo più ftalati). In formulazione pura il PVC è rigido, mentre miscelato con gli ftalati diviene flessibile e modellabile. I guanti in Vinile rispondono alle normative riguardanti i materiali plastici (sia come Dispositivi Medici che come prodotti destinati al contatto alimentare), a differenza dei guanti in Lattice e Nitrile che rispondono alle normative relative alle gomme. Anche se lo sviluppo di questo guanto è stato favorito principalmente dall’assenza del Lattice di gomma, l’aspetto economico è stato fondamentale per il suo largo utilizzo. La resistenza meccanica, in raffronto con il Lattice e con il Nitrile, è inferiore a causa della scarsa coesione molecolare e quindi il guanto, oltre che meno elastico, è più facile a rotture ed a microlesioni e meno idoneo a prestazioni soggette a rischi, soprattutto biologici. I guanti in Vinile prodotti con ftalati, classificati dal REACH, sono utilizzabili anche per contatto con alimenti (Dir. 2004/195/CEE) fatta eccezione per gli alimenti grassi ed alcolici in quanto gli ftalati tendono a migrare velocemente.

POLIETILENEIl Polietilene è anch’esso una delle plastiche più comuni e meno costose. Spesso identificato con la sigla PE è un pla-stica con ottima stabilità chimica e per questo utilizzato spesso come isolante e prodotto in film destinati al contatto con alimenti (sacchetti e film). Nel caso dei guanti la produzione avviene tramite fustellatura e termosaldatura del film. Il Polietilene prodotto in alta densità (HDPE - High Density PE) ha una maggiore rigidità e durezza rispetto alla bassa densità ed è utilizzato per i guanti dove è richiesta la massima economicità (vd. utilizzo presso le stazioni di rifornimen-to o per ortofrutta). Il Polietilene a bassa densità (LDPE – Low Density PE) è un materiale più duttile, meno rigido ed è utilizzato dunque per guanti che richiedono una maggiore sensibilità e saldature più morbide come per esempio in ambito medico. Il CPE o Cast PE è una formulazione di Polietileni che, grazie ad una calandratura, assume la peculiare finitura zigrinata che permette una sensibilità ed una presa superiore.

VINYLVinyl gloves are produced from the granules of PVC (polyvinyl chloride), one of the most common plastics, and plasticizers (mostly phthalates). PVC is rigid plastic but when mixed with phthalates becomes flexible and moldable. Vinyl gloves comply with regulations concerning plastic materials (both for Medical Devices and materials intended for food contact norms), unlike Latex gloves and Nitrile which comply with Rubber related norms. Although the development of this kind of glove was mainly due to the absence of natural Latex, the economic aspect was key to its widespread use. The mechanical strength in comparison with Latex and with Nitrile is lower due to the low molecular cohesion and therefore the glove is less elastic and easier to break and to pinholes and less suitable for performances at risk, especially organic fluids risks. Vinyl gloves containing phthalates, which are classified by REACH, can also be used in contact with food (Dir. 2004/195/EEC) except for fatty and alcoholic food because phthalates tend to migrate quickly.

POLYETHYLENEPolyethylene is also one of the most common and cheaper plastics. Often identified with the initials PE, it is a plastic with excellent chemical stability and therefore often used as an insulator and produced for films which are in contact with food (bags and foils). In the case of disposable gloves production is made by cutting and heat-sealing the film. High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is stiffer and harder than low density Polyethylene and is used for gloves that require the lowest costs (see the use at petrol stations or department stores). Low density Polyethylene (LDPE - Low Density PE) is a more flexible material, less rigid and therefore used for gloves which require a greater sensitivity and softer welds as for example in the medical field. The CPE or Cast PE is a formulation of Polyethylenes that, thanks to a calendering, assumes the peculiar roughened finish that allows a higher sensitivity and grip.

Prodotti utilizzabili come Dispositivi Medici secondo la Direttiva 93/42/CEE (norme di riferimento EN 455 parte 1,2,3 e 4). La Direttiva 93/42/CEE sui dispositivi medici, fornisce i requisiti per la produzione dei guanti da utilizzare in ambito sanitario (quindi anche odontoiatrico), oltre che gli obblighi di etichettatura e valutazione della sicurezza biologica e della validità. I guanti considerati Dispositivi Medici assicurano protezione dalla contaminazione incrociata sia per il paziente che per l’utilizzatore in quanto sono considerati una efficace barriera a fluidi biologici e microrganismi.

Prodotti testati presso laboratori accreditati dalla Comunità Europea e certificati per la protezione contro microrgani-smi. Il livello di prestazione 2, indicato sotto il pittogramma, indica un AQL per microfori inferiore ad 1,5 che è ritenuto un’efficace barriera contro i rischi microbiologici (microrganismi). Anche la Direttiva 93/42/CEE (Vd sopra) che regola i Dispositivi Medici richiede un AQL inferiore a 1,5 come barriera per i fluidi biologici e microrganismi.

Products tested by European Community accredited laboratories and certified to protect against microorganisms. The level of performance 2, shown below the pictogram, indicates an AQL for pinholes less than 1.5, considered an effective barrier against microbiological hazards (microorganisms). Even Directive 93/42/EEC (see above) which regulates the Medical Devices requires an AQL of less than 1.5 as a barrier for the biological fluids and microorganisms.

Livello Accettabile di Qualità. Il Livello di AQL inferiore a 1,5 per Microfori con livello di ispezione G 1 soddisfa i requi-siti sia delle norme Medicali (vd. Sopra 93/42/CEE) che delle norme sui Dispositivi di Protezione Individuale (vd sopra EN 374-2) in materia di efficace barriera contro microrganismi.

Acceptable Quality Level. The AQL level below 1.5 for pinholes with inspection level G 1 satisfies the requirements of both the Medical (see above 93/42/EEC) and Personal Protective Equipment (see above EN374-2) in terms of an effective barrier against microorganisms.

Products can be used as medical devices in accordance with Directive 93/42/EEC (in accordance with EN 455 part 1,2,3 and 4) - Directive 93/42/EEC on Medical Devices, provides the requirements for the production of gloves to be worn in health care (and therefore for dental use), as well as labelling requirements and assessment of biosafety and validity. The gloves considered Medical Devices provide protection from cross contamination for both the patient and the user as they are considered an effective barrier to fluids and microorganisms.

It applies to all materials and objects intended to come into contact with food. We conduct tests for specific Global Migration at specific time intervals and temperatures, using simulants substances, which emulate the extractive capacity of all edible food groups, like the chart below. We also check with specific Migrations tests that prohibited and / or specifically restricted chemicals do not to exceed the permitted levels (for example: Phthalates, vinyl chloride, acrylonitrile etc..).The “i” indicates the need to provide the users with additional informations about eventual restrictions, temperatures and times to which the glove has been tested.
