Vision and Mission 'Future will be better than thy past' is the mission and vision of The University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS). BA (Honors) program in English is designed to provide students with a milieuin literature, language skills for communication and appreciation.To achieve this goal UITS, the first IT based private university in Bangladesh,was founded in 2003, as a non profit organiza-tion under the initiative of the great philanthropist Alhaj Sufi Mohamed Mizanur Rahman.The University established Department of English under the School of Liberal Arts and Science in the year of 2005.This Department is devoted to develop young minds in their fullest potential through the free and creative pursuit of knowledge through academic and extra-curricular programs to make our young generation responsible and caring citizen of the nations, and indeed of the globe.

Admission Eligibility :According to the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC)rules, applicants must have at least 2nd Division or GPA 2.5 in both SSC &HSC. If there is any GPA 2.00 in SSC/HSC then the total GPA must have to be GPA 6.00. For O level & A level, at least for 5 subjects in O level and 2 subjects in A level, the applicants must have GPA 4.00 or B Grade in 4 subjects & GPA 3.5/C Grade on the other 3 subjects. Regarding Freedom Fighters children, the total GPA may be considered as 5.00 for each applicant.

Admission Test:UITS will call applicants who meet the minimum eligibility requirements for an AdmissionTest, which will comprise of written test and , in some cases , a depart-mental interview. The written test has two parts;Part 1: contains muptiple-choice questions covering English Language ,general knowledge.Part2: is a test of written EnglishNote: Students with a GPA of at least 4.5 or a combined score of at least 11oo on the SAT Reasoning Test are except from the written part of the Admission Test but still be called for an interview.

Program Objectives:To develop the skills of students in the use of idiomatic English and the capability of expressing ideas and thoughts in English by reinforcing the skills of speaking, listening reading and writing for communicative interaction.To introduce the understanding of different cultures and their philosophy as expression of human values within historical and social context to establish 'self' as Global representatives.To stimulate a greater appreciation of language as an aesthetic medium and the artistic principles that shape literary work.
