This would be a great time

    to invite friends and family

    to join us!

At the cross we understand what

God means when he talks of

loving us, begin to take it in that

there is nothing that he will not

do, no sacrifice he will not make,

no suffering that he will shirk, if

only he can help us. He loved

    me, said Paul, standing upon

Calvary and gazing in a stunned

way at the cross, I who was

    a persecutor, and a blasphem-

er, and injurious, and yet he

    loved me and he gave

    himself for me. And with

    that [Pauls] heart broke, and

    the old life was gone.

    Scottish preacher Arthur

John Gossip, in a 1926 ser-

    mon titled What Happens at

Our Senior Adult Spring Banquet is

just around the corner. This year it

will be Friday, May 11 at 6:00 P.M. in

    the Fellowship Hall.

The banquet will be catered by

    Country Kitchen out of Christiansburg

and our very own Highest Praise will

be providing the program. Tickets are

$10 per person and are available in

Adult IV and Adult V Sunday School

Department and in the church office.

The Week at a GlanceOur Easter Outlook

During World War II, when the Blitz was at its worst in London, theologian Leslie Weatherhead

said there had been no loss of life among the Christians there. Many Christians had been killed in

London, but there was no loss of life. People who believe in the risen Lord have true life in him,

no matter their earthly trials and circumstances. Because God raised his Son from the dead,Christians are assured of immortality in Christ. Eternal life is ours, thanks to the empty tomb.

Deacon of the Week: Robert Lane 434.385.5977

Truthful AnswerA Sunday school teacher was telling the story of the Good Samaritan. In graphic

detail she described how the assaulted man was left helpless beside the road. Thenshe asked the class, "If you came upon a wounded man lying by the road and he

had blood all over him, what would you do?"A dainty girl spoke first, "I think," she said with a wince, "that I'd probably throw

    up."

Many times we are asked, Who is my

    deacon?

To help you, we will list the Deacon of the Week

and his list of families in the WLBC Bulletin

ENewsletter. There will be a complete list posted

on the bulletin board near the church office. This

complete list is alphabetical by your last name.

We hope this will help you know who your deacon

is for the year. If you have any questions, please

feel free to contact the church office.

An Old Testament book reveals some lessons that King Lemuel learned from his mother. One was the follow-

ing: Speak out for those who cannot speak, for the rights of all the destitute. Speak out, judge righteously,

defend the rights of the poor and needy. Which book contains that quote?

    A. Psalms; B. Jeremiah; C. 2 Kings; D. Proverbs
