¡Viva la Virgen de Chapi! Hemos empezado el mes marianìsimo de mayo honran-do en dos etapas a nuestra Madre Celestial, la Sma. Virgen María, bajo la advocación peruana de Nuestra Señora de Cha-pi, la patrona de Arequipa, la “ciudad blanca” y la segunda ciu-dad del Perú.
Luego de la Misa votiva de ayer, nos espera hoy el as-pecto gastrónómico en el auditorio escolar, luego de la Misa de 11h. (13h, aprox.).

Aunque no habrá Hora Santa o Comedor Parro-quial esa tarde, favor de leer la página cinco acerca del Home-naje a las Madres luego de la Misa de 11h en el auditorio, gra-cias a la Sociedad de la Altagracia, nuestra cofradía dominicana.

En el Credo Niceno, profesamos que Jesucristo nuestro Señor “resucitó al tercer día, según las Escrituras, y subió al cielo, y està sentado a la derecha del Padre; y de nuevo vendrà con gloria para juzgar a vivos y muertos, y su reino no tendrà fin.” Cada año, a los 40 días despues del Domingo de Pascua, la fiesta de la Resurrección de Cristo en cuerpo y alma, nosotros los católicos celebramos la Ascensión del Señor al cielo.
La fecha este año de este día de precepto es el jueves, 14 de mayo. Se ofrecerà la Santa Misa en la capilla de la Casa Cural a las 12.05h. y en el templo a las 19h. (7 p.m.). (“Santificar las fiestas” - III Mandamiento).

MOTHER’S DAY,
MAY 10
We invite all the mothers of our parish (and grand-mothers, godmothers, stepmothers) to Mass at 9 a.m. next Sunday so that they may receive a special blessing. After the 11 a.m. Mass next Sunday, all of our mothers and their families are welcome to a hot, fresh, and tasty lunch in the auditorium, thanks to our Dominican sodality! However, there will be no Holy Hour or Soup Kitchen on May 10.
“Religious views...have to be changed”
about abortion
Earlier this month, this sentiment was expressed by a former Secretary of State and United States Senator who has declared her candidacy for President of the United States. (Christian Post, April 25, 2012, http://www.christianpost.com/news/hillary-clinton-religious-beliefs-have-to-be-changed-about-abortion-138179/) Really? Would she have in mind the historic, consistent opposition of the Catholic Church and other theis-tic, pro-life Americans to abortion? Is the force of government to be used to change these views? It is very important, per-haps now more than ever, for Catholic American voters and others of good will to vote in an informed fashion!

The second collection of today will be dedicated to helping the still-recovering Churches of central and eastern Europe. In light of the conflict in Ukraine and the difficulties faced by our Eastern Catholic brethren in the Crimea, along with challenges facing Roman and Eastern Catholics in central and eastern Europe, your generosity today would be most timely!

Dedicaremos la segunda colecta de hoy a las Iglesias de nuestros hermanos católicos romanos, bizantinos y armenios de Europa central y oriental. Al éco de las noticias lamentables de la problemática en Ucrania y los retos de nuestros hermanos greco-católicos en la península de Crimea, además de las dificul-tades pastorales de nuestros hermanos recuperando aun hoy día del yugo comunista, su generosidad hoy seria muy oportuna.
