Identifying objectives

• Objectives are statement about whatis expected to be accomplished

• Desired outcome: What should beexpected to occur?

• Conditions: Under what conditions isthe outcome expected to occur?

• Standards: What criteria signify thatthe outcome is acceptable?



Example…

• The trainee will splice, according tocode, six sets of wires in tenminutes while at the top of a

telephone pole wearing all standardsafety gear.





Formula for writing theobjectives

• Write out the desired outcome

• Use verbs, install, count, list, solve,replace….

• Now add conditions under which thebehaviour must be done, with useof aids or non use of aids. E.g.

without use of calculator• Finally specify the standards for

success e.g. within 15 minutes,

according to the manual, following
