Laura Tanisha, 32 ans, habite
avec ses deux filles et son
garçon dans une petite maison
de faubourg de Georgetwon.
Cette maison est un héritage
de ses parents depuis qu'ils
sont morts il y a quatre ans.
Elle vend dans un Dollar Tree
de Georgetown. Ce travail ne
lui rapporte pas assez d'argent
pour subvenir aux besoins de
sa famille. Heureusement, elle
reçoit des trois pères de ses
enfants la pension alimentaire pour enfant.
À la fin de la journée, elle regagne son toit. Les murs sont faits des matériaux locaux ramassés
parmi les chutes utilisées pour construire des maisons décentes. La maison a deux chambres à
coucher, une toilette et une salle de bains. La cuisine et la salle à manger se confondent. Il n' y a
pratiquement pas de salon. Elle a juste aménagé un coin pour cinq chaises. Pour laver les habits,
elle va au Laudromat du coin. Cette femme célibataire vit dans la crainte permanente de voir Le
IRS venir vendre sa maison. Depuis deux ans, elle n'arrive plus à payer les taxes sur sa maison.
