PURPOSE OF COOLANTTheprimaryfunctionofacoolantistotransferheatawayfromthecombustionintheengine.Itisalsoveryimportanttoprotectthemetalsinthecoolingsystemagainstcorrosion.

Differentcompositionsofcoolantswillofferdifferentlevelsofantifreezeanti-boilprotection,that’swhyit’simportanttochoosetherightcoolantforyourvehicle.

GLYCOLThemainfunctionofethyleneglycolincoolantistoofferanti-freezeanti-boilprotection.Waterisaneffectiveheattransferfluidbyitself,howeverithasalimitedoperatingtemperaturerange.WhencombinedwithGlycol,theformulationoffersalowerfreezingpoint&ahigherboilingpointthaneitherfluidusedontheirown.

ORGANIC VS CONVENTIONAL COOLANTSConventionalstylecoolantsarecreatedusingoldertechnology,buthaveasolidperformancehistory.Thistraditionaltypeofcoolantwillhaveashorterlifespanthanorganic&isgenerallysuitedtoearliermodelvehicles.

OrganiccoolantsaremanufacturedusinganewerprocessreferredtoasOrganicAcidTechnology(OAT).Thisprocessprovidestheabilitytoachievealonglifespanduetolowchemicaldepletionrate.

Conventional & organic style coolants do not mix well together.

CORROSIONTherearemanytypesofcorrosionthatcanoccurinacoolingsystem,whichiswhyacoolantwithagoodqualitycorrosioninhibitorpackageisrequired.Tectaloycoolantsallcontainaninhibitorpackagethatprovidesmaximumprotectionagainstcorrosion.
