On November 2, 1883 elevengentlemen attending the University ofMichigan, met in the room ofHoffman and Gardner and held ameeting to discuss the advisability oforganizing a pharmaceutical society.Under the guidance of Albert BPrescott, these eleven Brothers beganthe framework of our great Fraternityas we know it today.
Throughout the last 134 years, thefraternity has undergone severalchanges, such as changing our namefrom Phi Chi to Phi Delta Chi,transitioning from a society to aprofessional fraternity, becoming co-educational, and adapting to thechanging world around us. ThisFounders’ Day we take a moment tosay thank you to those eleven greatminds that envisioned the creation ofan organization. I would like to think,they would be proud of what we haveaccomplished since that Novembernight in 1883.
I also hope your Chapter will take amoment to be grateful for thefounding fathers’ of your individualChapters. Do you know the names ofthose Brothers who had the visionand desire to bring Phi Delta Chi toyour campus?

Take time to look up their names andpause for a moment to say “thankyou,” because without them whoknows when your Chapter would haveformed or if it would have formed atall. Would you be a Brother today, ifnot for their actions?
The National Office was recentlynotified of the passing of a foundingBrother of the Alpha Omega Chapter.General Lawrence Dale Hoover Jr,Alpha Omega #5 and the first WCC ofAlpha Omega, passed away on October13, 2017 at the age of 87.
He proudly served in the UnitedStates Army in Korea, Vietnam, Japan,South America, and Panama beforeretiring in 1994. He received a BronzeStar with two battle stars for hisservice in Korea and an assorted 24campaign ribbons. His highest enlistedrank was Sergeant First Class and hishighest officer rank was BrigadierGeneral. General Hoover graduated in1957 from Southwestern OklahomaState University and worked as aterritory manager for a subsidiary ofPfizer.
We give thanks to Brothers such asGeneral Hoover, for their desire tobring Phi Delta Chi to Schools ofPharmacy across the nation. Pleaseshare with your Regional Directors forCommunication, how your Chapter iscelebrating and remembering ourfounding fathers this Founders’ Day.

It is never too late to begin planning for next summer’s Leader-Development Seminar(LDS). The meeting will take place in Virginia Beach at the Virginia Beach Resort Hoteland Conference Center, August 1-4, 2018. LDS is truly designed for small groupteaching, learning and personal growth.
This year the registration process will be different. Please note the following key dates:
February 1 – June 15: Up to 3 collegiate Brothers per Chapter may register. All Chapters are encouraged to select their representatives and register as early as possible. There will not be an option for alumni registration at this time.
June 16: Registration is open to any collegiate Brother from any Chapter with a maximum attendance of 270.
July 10: Registration is open to any Phi Delta Chi Brother, alumni included, for full event or banquet only tickets with a maximum attendance of 270. Brothers who purchase banquet only tickets should plan to participate only in the banquet.
July 30: Registration closes.
Like in years past, we will run an advisor only track for up to 20 advisors. This will not beaffected by collegiate Brother attendance. More details will be sent to the advisors.

The Omega Alumni Chapter receivedtheir official letter of reactivation fromthe Executive Council during theirWine and Cheese night at the OmegaHouse in Memphis on October 28th.The Chapter was Chartered in 2008.Welcome back Omega Alumni! (Right)
