It is important that all your equipment be serviced and fully operational for winter…don’t get caught half done when the first snows roll in – be ready to go and go safely. We are still working with the rate petition appeal and have a December 3rd date for the process to begin. The document will be submitted and open to questioning at a hearing. The items that are open for review will be the fact that the cost of replacement equipment has increased drastically and, in order to operate safely and keep up with new technologies, this significant cost increase must be figured into the rate increase petition. We were only given a “cost–of–living” in the increase and this cannot support a towing operation that is charged with keeping our highways open for traffic and safe for vehicle occupants. TRPC will keep you informed as we navigate the process. TRPC will be attending the Traffic Incident Management meeting being held in Hartford at the Connecticut Regional Council of Governments offices in November. This is composed of many first responder agencies as well as DOT, CSP and other state and municipal agencies. Maintaining highway flow in a major incident, redirecting traffic, communication, incident manager positions and towing and recovery are subject matters. We have been active in this for many years and I will continue to represent TRPC and its membership. If you have any issues dealing with incident management please forward them to me so they can be presented to the group for possible resolution. Keep your eyes open for the notice of our Christmas party and TOYS for TOTS drive. If you cannot attend please drop off a toy at any TRPC Board members business, we will ensure that the toys get to a needy child. We were very successful in the past and hope you can maintain this tradition of giving back during the holidays. We had a speaker from OSHA Connecticut at our last meeting and he reminded us about the free service that Connecticut OSHA has available. The Wrecker Driver’s PrayerOh Lord, who watches from above,

who sees our every trial,I am a humble working manwho’s traveled many miles.

The midnight calls and endless hoursI spend within my truck,

I ask you, Lord for just the powerto keep my life unstuck.

I ask not for the laurelsnor the fame of worldly men,

Just your hand upon my shoulderand the strength to go again.

And put your hand upon the menwho work along my side,

That special breed of lawmen;tough inside, outside kind.

And when that final wrecker callis in my distant past,

And when I stand before your throneand of my life you ask,

I pray, dear God, That I may standand never be ashamed,

Because each call for help was heardand worked in Your Son’s name.

Amen
