Dear Members,
The Holidays finally have arrived; it not onlymeans that we will be seeing family and friendsbut we will also experience a weather change. Itis important that all your equipment be servicedand fully operational for winter…don’t getcaught half done when the first snows roll in –be ready to go and go safely.
We are still working with the rate petitionappeal and have a December 3rd date for theprocess to begin. The document will besubmitted and open to questioning at a hearing. The items that are open for review will be thefact that the cost of replacement equipment hasincreased drastically and, in order to operatesafely and keep up with new technologies, thissignificant cost increase must be figured into therate increase petition. We were only given a“cost–of–living” in the increase and this cannotsupport a towing operation that is charged withkeeping our highways open for traffic and safefor vehicle occupants. TRPC will keep youinformed as we navigate the process.
TRPC will be attending the Traffic IncidentManagement meeting being held in Hartford atthe Connecticut Regional Council ofGovernments offices in November. This iscomposed of many first responder agencies as
well as DOT, CSP and other state and municipalagencies. Maintaining highway flow in a majorincident, redirecting traffic, communication, incident manager positions and towing andrecovery are subject matters. We have beenactive in this for many years and I will continueto represent TRPC and its membership. If youhave any issues dealing with incidentmanagement please forward them to me so theycan be presented to the group for possibleresolution.
Keep your eyes open for the notice of ourChristmas party and TOYS for TOTS drive. If youcannot attend please drop off a toy at any TRPCBoard members business, we will ensure that thetoys get to a needy child. We were verysuccessful in the past and hope you canmaintain this tradition of giving back during theholidays.
We had a speaker from OSHA Connecticut atour last meeting and he reminded us about thefree service that Connecticut OSHA hasavailable. Read the details by viewing the CONN-OSHA On-Site Consultation Service brochure, which is available on the TRPC website or atwww.ctdol.state.ct.us/osha/CONN%20OSHA%20

The Wrecker Driver’s PrayerOh Lord, who watches from above,
who sees our every trial,I am a humble working manwho’s traveled many miles.
The midnight calls and endless hoursI spend within my truck,
I ask you, Lord for just the powerto keep my life unstuck.
I ask not for the laurelsnor the fame of worldly men,
Just your hand upon my shoulderand the strength to go again.
And put your hand upon the menwho work along my side,
That special breed of lawmen;tough inside, outside kind.
And when that final wrecker callis in my distant past,
And when I stand before your throneand of my life you ask,
I pray, dear God, That I may standand never be ashamed,
Because each call for help was heardand worked in Your Son’s name.
Amen
