Arthritis Home Remedies Which WorkPeople generally think of arthritis as an 'old persons' disease. In reality anyone can be afflicted withthis painful condition. In order to alleviate the pain associated with this disease, many people haveturned to prescription or over the counter remedies. Unfortunately, the side effects from theseremedies were often as bad as the pain from the arthritis itself. That may be why so many people areturning safer, gentler arthritis home remedies.

While you should never just stop taking a prescription your doctor has given you without talking tohim first, you may be able to combine both home remedies along with your prescription which maymake it possible to cut back on the amount of pain relievers you have to take thus diminishing manyof the negative side effects. Always talk to your doctor first.

Something as simple as using a heating pad when you are sitting at your computer or watching t.v.might offer you a lot of relief for your swollen and achy joints. Also make sure you keep your homecomfortably heated during the winter months so you don't get cold.

Many people have reported that having a nice long soak in a warm bath has helped them find somepain relief too. Another benefit is that this can help relax you which is something very preciouswhen you are living with such a painful condition.

Another tip that may help is to use warm olive oil and massage it into your sore joints. No need tostop at just your joints either, massage the tendons leading to your joints. For example, if your kneesare sore, massage a little up your thighs too.

While it may not smell that great, many people have reported getting relief by massaging with warmvinegar. This may be a great thing to try when the in laws come for a visit!

The general rule of thumb is to apply ice before the joints are swollen. If they are already inflamedyou should only apply heat. If you get to them before they are swollen ice can work very effectively.Generally if any treatment hurts you should stop.

Using a cream or ointment specifically created to ease joint pain can help provide relief overnight.Apply the cream at bedtime and you may have a less painful time sleeping, which means you'llactually be rested the next day.

As difficult as it may be to do, most doctors recommend that you try to stay active. The more youwork your joints the looser you'll be able to keep them. Try low impact activities such as yoga orswimming. These exercises are a great way to stay in shape and keep your joints limber and theywon't stress your joints further since they have virtually no impact on you.

You don't have to suffer or rely solely on prescription or over the counter arthritis pain relief. Thereare many simple, yet highly effective arthritis home remedies. As with anything, some will workbetter for some people than others so it's really just a matter of finding the best combination oftreatments for you.

Constipation Home Remedies - Healthier AlternativesConstipation is one of those things that no one really wants to talk about; yet everyone suffers fromit at some point in their lives. Even though you may be embarrassed by this issue, chronicconstipation is not only uncomfortable, it's also unhealthy. Before you run over to the local drugstore to buy some sort of over the counter medicine to cure your next bout of constipation, you maywant to consider the healthier alternative of constipation home remedies.

Most people know that their diet has a direct impact on having regular bowel movements. If yourdiet doesn't contain enough fiber you will likely suffer from constipation on a fairly regular basis.Just increasing your daily fiber intake can help prevent, or at least lessen, the amount of times yousuffer from this issue.

Here are some other simple daily lifestyle changes you can make starting right now, that will helpyou greatly reduce the amount of times you have to suffer from constipation:

1. If you are already constipated try drinking a small glass of prune or apricot juice daily until youget back to normal. Then in order to keep yourself regular, you should drink a glass once or twice aweek. Your body will let you know how much you need. If you don't like juice you can also eat thefruits, apricots or prunes.

It's also important to drink plenty of water every day. It may sound weird, but there are a lot ofpeople in our country who are dehydrated, they simply don't drink enough water during the day. This can have a lot of negative effects on the body, and constipation is one of them. Drink morewater.

2. Flaxseed can help you stay regular and can be stored in the refrigerator for some time. You cangrind it up and keep it handy in the refrigerator. You can mix it in with a glass of juice or water oryou can sprinkle it on top of your daily bowl of cereal.

3. Try to add some type of movement to your daily routine. Exercise has many health benefits andone of them is to keep your bowels working properly. Something as simple as a daily walk can helpkeep your digestive tract humming along.

4. There are herbal supplements available that will help you cleanse and detoxify your intestinaltract. Be careful before you use them though, and talk to your doctor about any possible interactionswith medicines you are already taking.

These simple constipation home remedies can not only help you cure a bout of constipation but alsohelp you prevent it from happening in the first place. Everyone suffers from constipation at one timeor another, even if you eat right and get plenty of exercise, to lessen the frequency just remember todrink plenty of water, eat high fiber foods, take a fiber supplement, and keep moving. If you do that, everything else will stay moving the way it should too.

Dry Skin Home Remedy - The Best Remedies For Dry Skin AtHomeFinding the right dry skin home remedy is an important part of overcoming your dry skin. There isactually no single home remedy for dealing with dry skin. Instead, there are a wide variety ofdifferent home remedies for you to choose from. When you have a list of different skin care tips tochoose from, the best way to create a home remedy that will work is to combine different skin careoptions until you find the regimen that is best going to address your needs. Everyone has uniqueskin, so the solution to your needs is going to be unique as well.

- * Do not soap as often as you normally would. There is nothing really therapeutic about using soapfor your dry skin. In America, for some reason we feel the need to be over washed and overdeodorized, and it is impacting us in bad ways. More problems are created by an overuse of soapthan a lack of using soap. Unless you're dirty, skip the soap, as it may be doing more harm than goodfor your dry skin.

- * You should take advantage of a humidifier to help you with dry skin. One of the biggestproblems relating to dry skin is the dry heat during the winter months. When air is heated using afurnace, it can reduce your home's natural humidity level down to as little as 10 percent or even less, whereas having a humidity level of 30 percent to 40 percent is much closer to ideal if you want tokeep moisture in your skin.

For this reason, it is recommended by many skin care experts and dermatologists that you keep ahumidifier in your home. You can use it during the dryer winter months, but there is something thatyou need to keep in mind: Many people simply think that putting in a humidifier in the house is allthat needs to be done, but humidifiers operate like air conditioners do meaning that the whole housecannot be done by a single humidifier. Put a smaller unit near your bed, and one on or near yourdesk for good results.

You can restore your dry and itchy skin to proper health, nourishment and nutrition. Obtaining theskin health that you seek will take diligence and patients, but these tips will certainly steer you in theright direction. When you keep yourself from over soaping or over deodorizing your skin and youuse a humidifier the right way in your home, you can have a positive impact on your skin health byrestoring the nourishment and moisture to your skin and keeping it from drying out as a result. Theseare two very good home remedies for dealing with dry skin on a long term basis in the comfort ofyour own home.

Home Remedies For TMJ - Conquer Your PainTemporomandibular Joint Disorder, or TMJ, is a condition that causes the joints of the jaw to 'freeze'so that it can be painful and difficult to eat or speak. The most common symptoms of TMJ includefacial swelling along the side of your face, painful chewing, pain in your ears, difficulty movingyour jaw, stiffness, and headaches. If you suffer from any of these symptoms you should see yourdoctor right away. There are several home remedies for TMJ that can help solve the problem and getrid of the pain and discomfort.

TMJ has many causes such as grinding your teeth when you are sleeping, poorly done dental work, your genetic makeup, as well as some bone problems. Very often people who are under a lot ofstress will suffer from TMJ since they are the most prone to grinding their teeth while they aresleeping. For this reason something as simple as some relaxation techniques may help them relax sothey don't grind their teeth and their TMJ symptoms will go away.

For others it may take a little more in order to get relief and you should talk to your doctor beforeyou try any type of herbal remedies since they can have a bad interaction with prescription or overthe counter medications you may already be taking.

Here are some easy to use home treatments for TMJ:

1. Try eating more fresh fruits, whole grains, low fat chicken and fish, garlic, eggs, and brown rice. These foods can help reduce inflammation which can lessen your TMJ symptoms. Also by eatingsofter foods you aren't straining your jaws as much as you would if you were eating harder, more'chewy' foods.

2. Using herbal remedies that have been shown to help relieve stress can help you too. Try theseherbs: passionflower, catnip, valerian, nettle, St. Johs's Wort, and chamomile. Many of these can bebrewed into a relaxing cup of tea.

3. To help lessen the pain use a hot pack or a heating pad. Just place it on the sore spot for a fewminutes.

4. If you tend to sleep on your side try to re-train yourself to sleep on your back. When you sleep onyour side it's easier for your jaw to fall out of alignment. If you need to you can use some smallpillows or a pair of socks placed next to your head so that you don't roll over onto your side duringthe night.

5. Try various stress relieving exercises such as yoga to help you relax. Again, stress can be one ofthe biggest causes of TMJ so the more stress free you can become the less likelihood of having anysymptoms. Not only can lessening your stress relieve your TMJ symptoms, it can also have manyother positive health benefits.

Many people can use one or more of these home remedies for tmj and find relief. Just make sure totalk to your doctor before you use any herbal supplements. You can get some relief from this painfulcondition just keep trying different things until you find the one that works best for you.

Simple Home Remedies for Gout SufferersMost people have heard of gout, but I suspect many don't know what it really is. Simply put, gout isa disease caused by excessive levels of uric acid in the blood-stream (hyperuricemia). Not everyonewho has high levels of this acid their blood develops gout disease, but it does seem most do.

Specifically, gout occurs when uric-acid crystals form around body joints like knees, fingers, elbowsand especially big toes - in fact, for the vast majority of gout sufferers, the first sign of the disease isbig toe pain! After salt-like crystals form, inflammation, tenderness, and even a reddish rash mayoccur around affected joints.

The disease has been noted and documented since the time of Hippocrates. Traditionally, it's beenassociated with exuberant living - eating and drinking well. And there is some indirect evidence tosupport this.

For example, a long-term study noted that heavy consumers of meat and sea food were much morelikely to develop gout. Additionally, significant alcohol consumption, especially in the form of beer,is also known to increase the risk of gout development.

Below are simple home remedies that may help to relieve pain and other symptoms linked to thissometimes debilitating disease.

It's unlikely they will all work for or apply to you, so it may be worth experimenting with differentremedies to find the ones that personally help alleviate your symptoms.

* An old study supported by a recent one and significant amount of anecdotal stories suggestdrinking cherry juice may help alleviate pain caused by uric-acid crystal formation.

* Soaking the affected joint or joints in warm water, or having a warm bath, may also help.

* Drinking plenty of water may help eliminate uric acid from the body.

* Cutting back on alcohol and meat (especially red) consumption should reduce the level ofdigestive purines from which uric acid is formed.

* If you're overweight, slowly losing weight may also help.

* A recent study suggested taking vitamin C supplements may reduce the risk of gout attacks, sothis is worth considering too.

These are just some simple remedies that may help curb gout attacks.

Boil Home Remedy - 2 Tips For Home RemediesBoils are caused by an infection that enters the skin through a cut or tear of the skin. At first theywill be fairly small and red, as the infection progresses the boil will fill with pus and get bigger andstart to look more white than red. Once the boil has gotten to this point there are some things youcan do to help get rid of it safely. Here is an easy to use boil home remedy.

Boils can show up anywhere on the skin but are usually found on the shoulders, face, groin, buttocksand thighs. They will usually last around 10 days and unless you have any underlying health issuescan usually be dealt with right at home.

1. To help the boil come to a head, so that it can drain, you can use a washcloth soaked in warmwater to make a compress. Apply this compress to the boil several times throughout the day. Leave iton the boil long enough to heat the skin of the boil to help draw the pus to the surface. Be careful thatyou check the temperature of the compress before applying it to your skin, you don't want to addinsult to injury by burning yourself.

2. You can use cornmeal to make a paste to apply to the boil which will do the same thing as a warmcompress, bring the boil to a head. Just mix about one half cup of water to a boil, add the cornmealand mix it to form a paste. Apply the paste to the boil and cover with a warm washcloth. Do thisseveral times during the day to help the boil drain more quickly.

There are other home remedies which may work but these are the two most common and the twothat seem to have the highest success rate.

Additional tips to keep in mind:

1. Thoroughly wash your hands before and after you touch your boil. If you don't, you may spreadthe infection to others in your household or to other parts of your body.

2. If your boil is accompanied by fever or severe pain make sure to see your doctor right away, don'twait for it to come to a head on it's own.

3. If there are several boils in one area this is a sign of a more serious infection and you should seeyour doctor right away.

4. Make sure that you carefully wash all the washcloths and clothing that comes into contact with theboil so you don't spread the infection.

5. When the boil has drained you want to keep the area covered with antibacterial cream and abandage to protect the new skin that is forming and to prevent re-infection.

6. Last but not least, do not try to pop, or lance, the boil yourself. This can make the infection worseand should only be done by your doctor in a sterile environment.

Boils are a common, if gross, thing to occur. They can be painful and they are definitely unsightlybut for the most part they aren't dangerous... if you care for them properly.

Follow this boil home remedy advice and you can get rid of your next boil more quickly and withoutthe risk of further infection.

This article is not medical advice and should not be used to replace professional medical advicefrom your personal medical doctor.

Canker Sore Remedies - Avoid Certain FoodsIf you have canker sores you will definitely be looking around for effective canker sore remedies.Canker sores can be very painful and may be triggered by certain foods, stress, or injury to the insideof your mouth.

Foods that are acidic and can trigger a canker sore are foods like lemons, oranges, pineapples, figs, apples, tomatoes or strawberries. Other causes may be dental problems like a sharp tooth orill-fitting dentures. Sometimes the friction from braces can cause an outbreak, also. Acidic juicesand carbonated drinks can also contribute to the formation or exacerbation of canker sores.

There are two types of canker sores, simple and complex. Simple canker sores are caused by thefoods or dental problems discussed above. Complex canker sores are usually caused by someunderlying medical condition that causes immune system depletion like Celiac disease or Crohn's.Vitamin and mineral deficiencies play a major role in the development of canker sores.

Some people may think that canker sores and cold sores are one and the same. This is not true. Coldsores are caused by a virus and develop on the outside of the mouth. canker sores develop on theinside of the mouth. Though canker sores and cold sores can be equally as painful, they are not thesame thing and both require different treatment.

If you have a painful sore or sores in your mouth, feel a burning sensation or rough spot developbefore the sores appear, have a low grade fever, swollen lymph glands or feel sluggish, you may befairly certain you have canker sores.

When you have an active canker sore you will need to steer clear of the types of foods we discussedearlier because they will not only cause you pain when you eat them but they may even make yourcondition worse.

If the sores do not start to heal on their own in a few days or you cannot eat or drink, you should nothesitate to see your dentist to receive canker sore remedies. You will also want to do yourself a favorand get a toothbrush with a soft bristle. Keeping your mouth clean is a good way to help the cankersores heal up quicker.

Some other symptoms that should prompt you to see your dentist are unusually large sores, soresthat spread, sores that last more than three weeks, sores that cause severe pain, or you have a highfever.

Cold Sores Remedies - You Can Get It WellIf you get cold sores remedies are available over the counter to help relieve the pain and help healthem. The best thing you can do for yourself if you get cold sores frequently is to keep them moistwith an ointment you can get at any pharmacy location. Do not try to use any kind of waxy stick tokeep them moist. You will just do more harm than good because the hard wax will catch and pull onyour lips and rip open the cold sores. Cold sores are painful enough, they do not need any help inthe hurt department.

Cold sores are sometimes called fever blisters and are characterized by the small clusters of blistersthat form on your lips and on the skin around the outside of your mouth. Cold sores are caused bythe herpes simplex virus 1 or 2. They can cause incredible pain and be very embarrassing especiallyif you get them often.

If you do happen to get frequent cold sores remedies are available from your doctor. You shouldconsider seeing your doctor if the cold sores you get cause severe pain, a sore throat, swollen lymphglands, or a fever. Your doctor can treat cold sores with an antiviral medication that will decrease theseverity and frequency of the cold sores you get. If you get lucky you may not have an outbreak fora year or even two.

Although the herpes simplex virus has no cure, the symptoms associated with the cold sores causedby the virus can be controlled with the right treatment from your doctor.

To prevent outbreaks from happening in the first place try to steer clear of stressful situations. Stresscan and will trigger cold sores to form. Excessive exposure to sunlight can trigger cold sores also. So, make sure to use a sunscreen when you will be out in the sun for a long periods of time.Sometimes it seems as if just thinking about them can trigger them and that is the worst of all, basically getting them for no reason.

If you have a cold sore do what you can to not transfer the virus to anyone else. Wash your handsfrequently and do not touch your mouth. You will infect anything you touch after touching yourmouth so be very careful. Do not share eating utensils, cups, or any other item you have used withanother person or you will pass on the virus to them.

Other triggers include getting a cold or flu. Sometimes you will get a cold sore instead of a cold orthe flu which to some, may be a blessing in disguise. I would much rather have to deal with getting acold sore rather than dealing with a cold or the flu.

There are several remedies on the market and you should try them to see which ones work best foryou. Some may work to help heal the cold sores a little sooner and some may just relieve the painbetter than others. Mostly you just need to manage the symptoms with the over the counter coldsores remedies that are available.

Ear Infection Remedies You Can Use At HomeSince the people first started populating the planet, they have had to deal with infections. Ancientpeoples did not have the same understanding of antibiotics as we do today, so they had to rely onother remedies to treat the problem. While modern people can get prescriptions to fight infection, that's not any reason to discount the power of home remedies. It should be pointed out thatprofessional medical attention is still the best option, but home remedies do have their place.

One of the most common types of infection, particularly found amongst children, is an ear infection. They can range from the bothersome on one end to the torturously painful at the other end. Read onfor more information on home remedies for ear infections.

A lot of parents, perhaps you, have had nights where their child has woken up holding their ear andcrying in pain. While it may be best to see a doctor, it's difficult to find one in the middle of thenight. It's situations like these where a few home remedies for ear infections come in handy.

The first thing you should know is that home remedies can only do so much. Some do a good job ofcuring mild cases, while others work better for temporarily easing the pain (allowing the sufferer toget some much-needed rest) until a medical professional can be seen.

An age-old home remedy is applying a hot water bottle or bag of salt to the problem ear. This isoften enough to suppress the more minor infections, and will typically provide a certain level of painrelief.

Tea tree oil is another remedy that some people turn to, but it should be noted that irritates the skinof some people who try it. For those that can tolerate, though, it has some power to fight offinfection. This makes it a good choice, but other options exist without the potential side effects.

One such alternative is an extract that goes by the name of Otikon. It is made from a combination ofseveral different plant extracts. These extracts produce an anesthetic property which works well atrelieving the pain of ear infections. It's an excellent choice for those that need to deaden the pain sothey can rest.

While the above remedies are effective, there is another method that has been proven not to work:ear candling. This is a process where cone made of wax-covered paper (the candle) is inserted intothe ear and then lit. Some purveyors of this method claim that it draws the infection out of the earand up through the candle. It simply does not work that way. In fact, many people create moreserious medical problems by using them. Any claims of their benefits are nothing more thanmumbo-jumbo, and have been repeatedly disproven. In other words, ear candling should never beused to treat ear infections.

Keep in mind that even though some infections are minor, if they are not treated properly they canlead to more serious problems. Home remedies are best as a temporary treatment until propermedical attention can be found. But for minor irritation, home ear infection remedies may be enoughto do the trick.

Easy Hypertension Natural RemediesOver one third of Americans have hypertension. All those people think they need to be put on medsto get their blood pressure back to normal. For some people that is the only way to get their bloodpressure into normal ranges. However, for others, there are natural remedies for lowering bloodpressure.

One of the best ways if not the best way, is exercise. Exercise is a wonderful remedy for a hugenumber of ailments. For people that are overweight, have high cholesterol, and high blood pressure.

You don?t have to hit the gym 7 days a week, or workout so hard you almost pass out. All it takes isa brisk walk for 20 to 30 minutes a day. That?s all you have to do is just get your heart pumping andyou are on your way.

Another remedy is cutting out fatty foods. Try to stop eating at fast food restaurants; those are theworst places to go if you are trying to get healthy. There have been documentaries about what fastfood can do to your body and your blood pressure.

Salt, cut it out all together. There are other things out there to add flavor to your food. Stop eatingfried food, fried chicken, fried pork chops, fried fish; it?s all bad for you. If you still want to eatthose kinds of food, well, you can. Just bake, broil or grill it.

One of the hardest things I had to do is cut back on my sodas. It?s true, look on the back of the labelsof the next drink you have. You would be amazed at the high level of sodium that goes into eachserving.

I know the alternative for soda doesn?t sound too appealing; however water is the best alternative foryou. Water doesn?t do the damage that soda does and it?s a heck of a lot cheaper. It will make aworld of difference in the way you feel as well.

Eat plenty of fruit people, apples, grapes you name it, it?s good for you. Try to eat grapes for a snackinstead of pigging out with candy and potatoe chips. They taste just as good and it?s a whole lotcheaper and better for you.

I know all these remedies may be tougher to do then I make it out to be. However you have to takethat first step. I wouldn?t recommend trying to cut everything out all at one time. I would take onestep one week, then another in a couple of weeks and so on and so on.

It?s your life people, and you are the only one that can determine if you want to do this. If youdecide to go with these hypertension natural remedies, your body will thank you for it, and so willthe people who love you.

Ask the owner of your local health food store what is recommended for hair loss and how to use itproperly. They should be able to help you out just fine. Rosemary and green tea also help reduce the thinning of hair by reducing the production of a certainhormone responsible for causing this condition, called female pattern baldness. Green tea is mosteffective if you apply it directly to your scalp. Let it cool first and just pour it over your head orbrush it on the thinning parts of your scalp. Let the rosemary and green tea air dry on your scalp andleave it on over night to get the best result you can. Wash your hair as you would normally do thenext morning.

The criteria for determining if your hair is beginning to thin is roughly estimating the amount of hairyou lose every day. That number is approximately 100 hairs. Obviously, if you notice bald spots orcan see your scalp during or after doing your hair for the day then you probably are experiencingsome thinning and you should see your doctor immediately.

Your doctor may prescribe medical remedies or other remedies you can buy over the counter. Rosacea Skincare Tips Which Will Help YouRosacea skincare tips can help the millions of people who suffer from this condition that is oftenmistakenly confused with acne or dermatitis.

Rosacea is a skin condition that usually starts mildly and progresses if it is not treated. The mildsymptoms include red or flushed cheeks, nose and/or chin. As the disorder gains momentum, bumpsstart to appear, and the skin becomes tough and rough. Rosacea is incurable, and although it isbenign, it causes a great deal of stress and discomfort to its victims which, of course, leads them toseek out treatments and/or therapies.

Some of the most common rosacea skincare treatments are antibiotics, special fash washes andcreams, and specialized laser therapy. Some of the most recognized antibiotics are metronidazoleand azelaic acid. These are functional soothing the bumps and red color associated with thecondition. The amount of antibiotic administered is different from person to person, and may beused in addition to other therapies and lifestyle changes which Rosacea may require. There are also anumber of oral antibiotics that can be used which can significantly reduce inflammation and pimplesthat often accompany Rosacea.

When you are using creams and washes for your Rosacea, make sure that the products are alcoholfree and do not clog pores. Rosacea sufferers tend to have extremely sensitive skin, which is oftenbelieved to be part of the cause for the condition in the first place. Emu oil is one nutrient that hasbeen hailed to work well on the skin as it moisturizes without clogging the pores. Colloidal silver isalso often tried because it contains anti-bacterial properties. Colloidal silver is natural (no chemicals, fillers, and additives), but overuse can cause side effects, so it's important to stick to therecommended dosage, as with any medication or treatment.

Finally, part of rosacea skincare is recognizing what causes your condition to flare-up and avoidingthose elements. We've mentioned harsh skin-care products and washes. But you also need to avoidharsh weather (extreme heat and cold) if at all possible. When you need to be outside in theseconditions, take precautions. In hot and humid weather, drink cool water and keep a spray bottlenearby. Also try to avoid over-exerting yourself. In the winter, keep your face covered to protect youfrom the cold and wind. In addition, pay attention to what you are eating and drinking: spicy foods, alcohol, and caffeine, for example, are all common triggers for rosacea flare-ups.

While there is a great deal of interest in laser therapy to combat rosacea, you should make sure thatyou research the process thoroughly to understand if this is the way you want to go. If you canreduce your rosacea just by avoiding spicy foods, you might want to avoid the laser.

Varicose Veins Remedies - Natural Self TreatmentIf you have varicose veins and are looking for varicose veins remedies to help lessen the discomfortthat they can cause, I have a few suggestions for you. There are several things you can do, somewith advice of your doctor and some you can just do on your own, that can help lessen thediscomfort and even prevent varicose veins from developing.

Talk to your doctor and ask if you are healthy enough to start a walking program. Walking improvesblood circulation in your legs. Talking to your doctor first is important so you do not cause yourselfother injuries. Get yourself a good pair of walking shoes before you start, too. Your feet and legs willthank you.

Losing any and all excess weight is another one of several great varicose veins remedies you can doand will take the pressure off your legs and help decrease the severity of your varicose veins.Walking will help with losing the weight and if you combine the exercise with a low salt, high fiberdiet you will also help decrease the edema, or swelling that goes along with varicose veins. Talk toyour doctor first before starting a diet plan.

Low heeled shoes are best to wear when standing for long periods of time or walking they work yourcalves better. Standing or walking in high heeled shoes shortens the calf muscle therefore decreasingthe blood flow and varicose veins and possibly pain or discomfort. Loosen up the clothes you wear, too. Do not wear tight clothing and steer clear of girdles or body slimming undergarments, they cancut off circulation to your lower body.

If you have a job where you have to sit or stand for extended periods of time, try to take a fewbreaks during your day and elevate your feet and lower legs above the level of your heart. This willnot only help with blood circulation but will take some pressure off and decrease what's calleddependent edema (swelling of the lower legs, feet and ankles).

Also get up and move around, do not sit at your desk for hours on end, move around for five or tenminutes every 30 minutes to an hour to keep the blood moving. If you have to stand for extendedperiods, bend your knees, stretch out a little, or do some deep knee bends to keep the blood moving.Doing these simple exercises when you are at work will not only help with the varicose veins butthey will help keep you alert on the job, too.

One last thing you can do for yourself when trying to control varicose veins is, do not ever sit withyour legs crossed. Think about it, when you sit with your legs crossed for an extended period oftime, does your foot fall asleep? This is a circulation issue and should be avoided at all costs.Crossing your legs when sitting will cut off the circulation in your lower legs increasing thelikelihood you will develop varicose veins later in life. Prevent varicose veins by not crossing yourlegs when you are sitting.

If any of these suggestions for varicose veins remedies do not help relieve the discomfort you areexperiencing, speak with your doctor about other treatment options available to you.

This article is for information purposes only and is not professional medical advice. Nor should it beused as medical advice at any time. You should consult with your own Physician or other propermedical professionals prior to determining treatment or diagnosis.
