8:30 and 11 a.m. ORDER OF WORSHIP Today, God, we rejoice with Christians everywhere as we remember Christ’s entry into Jerusalem; for all the city was stirred!

Hosanna, the Hebrew expression for save, became the exclamation of praise! We rejoice, knowing that his triumphal entry means that truth cannot remain hidden and that good hearts everywhere recognize truth when it appears. We stand in hope with people on many continents, in many circumstances who are waiting for the day when their truth can be told. We stand with them in faith, knowing that the same God

who could have commanded the rocks to shout truth in Jerusalem, comes to us not only this day, but all the days of our lives leading us to the cross and oering us life eternal through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Gathering Music Hosanna, Loud Hosanna Jason Payne Welcome Prelude Suite in G Major Movt. I, Preludio Ottorino Respighi Chamber Strings and Organ Introit Psalm 150 George S. Talbot Chancel Choir

Halleluiah! Praise God in His holy temple; praise Him in the rmament of His pow’r.Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him for His excellent greatness.

Praise Him with the blast of the ram’s horn; praise Him with the lyre and harp.Praise Him with timbrel and dance; praise Him with strings and harp.

Anthem What Wondrous Love Is is arr. John Leavitt Chancel Choir, Chamber Strings, and Piano

What wondrous love is this, O my soul. O my soul. What wondrous love is this, O my soul. What wondrous love is this that caused the Lord of bliss to bear the dreadful curse for my soul, for my soul. To bear the dreadful curse for my soul.

When I was sinking down, sinking down, sinking down. When I was sinking down, sinking down. When I was sinking down beneath God’s righteous frown, Christ laid aside His crown for my soul, for my soul. Christ laid aside His crown for my soul.

To God and to the Lamb, I will sing, I will sing. To God and to the Lamb, I will sing. To God and to the Lamb, Who is the great I AM! While millions join the theme, I will sing, I will sing.

While millions join the theme I will sing.

*Hymn O Sacred Head, Now Wounded arr. Ric Flauding Congregation, Strings, Flute, and Organ O sacred Head, now wounded, with grief and shame weighed down. Now scornfully surrounded with thorns, thine only crown: How pale thou art with anguish, with sore abuse and scorn! How does that visage languish which once was bright as morn! What thou, my Lord, has suered was all for sinners’ gain; Mine, mine was the transgression, but thine the deadly pain. Lo, here I fall, my Savior! ‘tis I deserve thy place; Look on me with thy favor, vouchsafe to me thy grace.

Benediction Response Just As I Am arr. Brad Nix Ms. Whitney and Chancel Choir

Please bring disposable diapers/pull-ups and baby wipes to church April 28 through May 5. Our goal is to exceed the 7,500 diapers and 90 packages of wipes we collected last year! Beneficiaries are The United Methodist Children's Home, now known as Wellroot Family Services, and Caring for Clarkston (C4C). Oak Grove Service Ministries is sponsoring the sixth annual church-wide diaper drive, with the greatest needs for diaper sizes 3, 4, 5 and 6; pull-ups of any size; and baby wipes. C4C can accept loose diapers (packaged by size and labeled accordingly). We are seeking volunteers to sort diapers in the Fellowship Hall after the Modern Worship service on May 5. This is a great service opportunity for individuals or families. To volunteer or for more information, please contact Renita Anderson (678-772-8953 or [email protected]). Thank you to Young Children's School and Oak Grove Christian School for supporting these efforts by collecting diapers and wipes for these organizations during the week of April 29!

Oak Grove UMC is partnering with A Brush with Kindness, a branch of Atlanta Habitat, to provide exterior home painting and minor repair services to eligible Atlanta Habitat home-owners. These services allow residents to continue to live in safe, decent homes for years to come. These events are sponsored by donors so there is no cost to our volunteers. If you are interested in learning more about how you can be involved in this service project, contact Amy Morgan ([email protected]).

As you read this article, over 14,000 children and teens are in state custody. Many are waiting for a foster family while spending nights in hotels or being placed in group or foster homes far from home. The need for foster families and people who support those families is great. Oak Grove partners with Wellroot Family Services (formerly the United Methodist Children’s Home) to provide foster care for hurting children. Do you have a heart for kids and want to learn more about how you could become a foster family or how you could support foster families in their care of children? Jonathan Larson has wandered the world collecting and telling stories – traditional and personal. A childhood in India, a working life in Africa and more recently in America, including the streets of Atlanta, have left him with tales of mystery and beauty as well as of suffering and overcoming that yields lasting wisdom and joy. Mary Gene Cotton, from Sylvania, GA, taught school and took her students far and wide to hear good stories. Some of her students have become tellers, as has Mary Gene herself. She is also an adventurous grandmother and a great listener.Dr. Carl Hug of Emory Medical School can regale the listener with medical information and experience, and suddenly you might find yourself in the midst of Dr. Carl’s story with his iconic Mother and his beloved wife.Mary Stripling, one of our Oak Grove tellers, is also a writer, who often reaches back into her southern ancestry for facts and wondrous tales that haunt and bless the listener. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $9.00 at the door. The Story Festival begins after lunch.Reservations are necessary and can be made in a Senior Adult Sunday School classroom, online (ogumc.org), or by calling the church (404-636-7558).
