Chain Management is the possibility to distin-
guish a block or info warning by process step
rather than using the standard all or nothing
option on the released product
Blocking reasons can be created within
purchase orders sales orders sales quota-
tions and warehouse management The
following processes in procurement supply
and logistics can be affected with Blocking
reasons order creation order line entry
confirmation product receipt release to the
warehouse packing slip product receipt
confirm shipment and invoice
With Blocking Reasons it is not necessary that
a process is blocked completely It is possible
to set a signal message which will only be
used as a warning when the related process
is started Additionally it is possible to use a
block and signal message at the same time
meaning that in this case the user will have
information on why a particular process is
blocked

process of firming in case the firming is done
in batch Only those planned purchase orders
with Items and vendors with a blockade will

decides to stop trading with particular custo-
mers or vendors Only those customers and
vendors which are linked to a blocking reason
will be affected with it Blocking Reasons
can override a blockade set on a vendor or
customer On an order level if a vendor or
customer is blocked it can be released so that
a particular order can still be processed even
though the vendor or customer is blocked for
new orders Additionally on order level the
solution enables using a blocking reason on
an order line and in this case only the blocked
line will not be ordered received or invoiced
while the rest of the lines can be ordered
delivered picked or invoiced This is practical
in cases where only certain lines on orders

reason on the vendor or the customer

Once different statuses for a business rule are
created they are available to create transi-
tions from one status to another With these
transitions you can control the next and
previous status of the process
Also it is possible to define authorizations to
control which users are allowed to complete
the transition There is also an option where a
user-defined validation method can be used
for each transition With this functionality
the system will check whether all conditions
are met so a transition from one business rule
status to another business rule status can be
done There is also an option to fall back to in
case the check fails and the user is unable to
switch to the next transition status
Business Rules offers a possibility to auto-
matically set a blocking reason on items
customers vendors and prospects When
a business rule status with blocking reason
set is reached the blocking reason will be
applied to the record This is done when
changing to another business rule status
This can be useful when a product must be
picked but should not be delivered to the
customer yet Another possibility from which
the end user can benefit is that it is possible
to define own tiles filled with records filtered
by business rules status and add them to a
workspace This can be used as a monito-
ring workspace so all records with selected
business rule status will be located on the
user-specified tiles on a certain workspace
