On April 12, Josh Ruttledge, our youth leader preached a great sermon about sharing our stories. Josh shared a lot about his own story through that sermon and now we know him better than we did before. I think it is very important for us to know each other as well as we can as the Body of Christ here at Dyer UMC.
Beginning next month, we plan to include a section in our monthly newsletter called, "We All Have Stories." This is an opportunity for you to share your
story with your church family. What you share is completely up to you; it can be a story about how you have seen God in your life; it can be the story of when you became a Christian; it can be about when you came to the Dyer UMC family and what that has meant to you. The sky is the limit.
If you are interested in sharing your story with your church family, please contact Diane Sinish in the office by stopping in to see her, calling 219-865-8947, or emailing [email protected].
I hope to read your story very soon so we can know you better and our family can grow even closer.
Blessings, Pastor Jim
Our next mission trip to Guatemala is on the
calendar for July 2-10,
2016. Sign-ups for the
trip are now open until June 1, 2015. The cost of this
trip will be approximately $1700 per person depending
on the price of our airfare, which fluctuates a great
deal. A $100 deposit will be due upon signing up for
the trip. A payment schedule and trip details will be
available in the coming weeks as well. The
organization we will be working with is called Mission
Guatemala. This is a wonderful mission led by Tom
Heaton, an Indiana United Methodist pastor. For more
information about Mission Guatemala please visit their website at www.missionguatemala.com.
If you are interested in getting signed up or if you
would like more information about the trip please see
Pastor Jim or Megan Clark or call the church office at
219-865-8947.

Have you ever dreamed of walking where Jesus
walked? There is a perfect opportunity for you to do
just that in February 2016! Pastor Jim will be hosting a
team to join Bishop Mike for his final trip to Israel as
our bishop. We'll visit Jerusalem, the Sea of Galilee,
Cana, Nazareth, Jericho, the Mount of Olives,
Bethlehem and many more sites that will have us
walking the land of Jesus and help the bible truly come
to life. If this sounds exciting to you please prayerfully
consider making plans to go on this life changing trip.

Missions
Change Their Water, Change Their World
Clean water is something
we take for granted in the
USA. But in Guatemala,
clean water is not something
most people have access
to. By supporting Mission
Guatemala and their clean water
programs, we have the ability to change a
Guatemalan person’s life. Beginning this
month, we will once again have water
bottles available for you to take, enjoy the
clean, refreshing water, and then fill back
up with dimes. The money raised will help
support the clean water programs as well
as support the 2016 Mission Guatemala
Team’s project fees. Thank you for your
support of this fundraiser.

Introducing: BEYOND
That Thing 2015 (high school camp) will be offering an all-new, service-minded opportunity for students who are passionate about missions. Beyond is a chance for students to be the hands and feet of Christ while at camp. Just as we teach at That Thing, it is a time for us to go beyond ourselves, beyond our camp and beyond our own churches to reach others with the Love of Christ.

May is a month of many celebrations and beginnings. It is also the month we celebrate Mother’s Day and a great month to focus on women’s health. Specific health needs and screenings are based on the woman’s age, as our needs change as we do. These are just general guidelines based on some best practices. Always discuss these and your specific needs with your healthcare provider.
