FLOAT 1. BACCHUS LI. Bacchus leads his 1,650 followers on 32 floats.FLOAT 2. OFFICERS OF BACCHUS. The officers of Bacchus ride on this signature float featuring Bacchus’s face drinking his wine.FLOAT 3. THE TITLE FLOAT. STARRING LOUISIANA. Beginning as early as 1909, more than 300 full-length movies and numerous television shows have been set or filmed in Louisiana. Tonight, Bacchus celebrates some of these films.FLOAT 4: BACCHATALITY. This signature tandem float was introduced in 2005 paying homage to New Orleans’ distinctive culture.NO. 5. THE BACCHUS CHARIOT. For the krewe’s 50th anniversary, this float was reworked to reflect Bacchus’ mythology.FLOAT 6: PELICAN BRIEF. (1993) This movie is based on John Grisham’s novel about a Tulane University law student whose legal brief about the assassination of two Supreme Court justices causes her to be targeted by killers. Aided by a journalist, they unravel the government conspiracy.

FLOAT 7: THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON. (2008) Loosely based on the 1922 short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the story begins as Daisy Fuller is on her deathbed as Hurricane Katrina approaches. She asks her daughter to read aloud from the diary of Benjamin Button telling the story of her and Benjamin’s love affair and his reverse aging.FLOAT 8: EASY RIDER. (1969) This movie explores the counterculture of the 1960s and tells the story of freewheeling bikers Wyatt’s and Billy’s travels from Los Angeles to New Orleans for Mardi Gras.FLOAT 9: SARATOGA TRUNK. (1945) This film is based on the novel by Edna Ferber in which Clio Dulaine returns to New Orleans to avenge her mother. Subsequently she follows Clint Maroon to Saratoga, New York, where she plots to marry the owner of the Saratoga Trunk Railroad only to realize her love for Clint.FLOAT 10: BACCHA-AMORE. This signature float is dedicated to Bacchus’ passion for love, life and wine. Bacchus’ companion Cupid shoots his love arrows.FLOAT 11: AMERICAN HORROR STORY. (2013-14).

The third season of this television series, subtitled “Coven,” follows a New Orleans coven of witches and their enemies. The fourth season, “Freak Show,” was also filmed in New Orleans.FLOAT 12: BACCHAGATOR-ALLIGATOR PEOPLE. (1959). This horror film has newly married Joyce Webster searching for her husband, Paul. She tracks him down to a Louisiana plantation where a local doctor has been using a life-altering alligator serum on the town’s residents, and her husband.FLOAT 13: TERMINATOR GENISYS. (2015). The fifth installment in the Terminator franchise, this plot follows Kyle Reese in the war against Skynet. Kyle is sent by John Connor of the Human Resistance, back in time to protect Connor’s mother, raised by a reprogrammed Terminator.FLOAT 14: TARZAN OF THE APES. (1918). A silent movie filmed in the Atchafalaya River Basin based on Edgar Rice Burroughs’ novel. It was the first Tarzan film ever made and is the most faithful to the novel of all the film adaptations.FLOAT 15: BACCHA-KONG FAMILY — DAWN OF THE

PLANET OF THE APES. (2014). Filmed in Louisiana, this movie has Caesar the genetically enhanced chimpanzee and his followers grapple with protecting and re-establishing a relationship with a small band of human survivors from a flu pandemic.FLOAT 16: GREEN LANTERN. (2011). It is the story of test pilot Hal Jordan who is selected to become the first human member of the Green Lantern Corps. Hal is given a ring that grants him superpowers and must confront Parallax, who threatens to upset the universe’s balance of power.FLOAT 17: INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE. (1994). Based on Anne Rice’s novel, this film chronicles the story of vampires Lestat’s and Louis’ time together, much of it in Louisiana, and their turning of a 10-year-old girl into a vampire.FLOAT 18: BONNIE AND CLYDE. (1967). The film chronicles the Depression Era crime spree of Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker. Their reign of crime ends on a dirt road in Louisiana when they are riddled with bullets by the police.FLOAT 19: JEZEBEL. (1938). The film tells the story

of a New Orleanian, Julie Marsden, who is engaged to Preston Dillard. In retaliation for his refusing to accompany her while shopping, Julie orders a brazen red dress for a ball, despite the fact that as an unmarried woman, she is expected to wear white.FLOAT 20: BACCHASAURUS. This gentle green dinosaur carries krewe members in wine caskets as he glides through the streets of New Orleans.FLOAT 21: TREME. (2010-2013). A television series that aired on HBO telling the story of New Orleanians rebuilding their lives, homes and culture after Hurricane Katrina.FLOAT 22: LIVE AND LET DIE. (1973). MI6 agent James Bond investigates the deaths of three British agents which leads him to a drug lord and him being trapped in a world of gangsters and voodoo. FLOAT 23: BIRTH OF THE BLUES. (1941). The plot loosely follows the origins of the Original Dixieland Jazz Band in New Orleans. It tells the story of Jeff Lambert, who forms a jazz band at a mobster’s club which becomes the most popular band on Bourbon Street.

FLOAT 24: BACCHAWHOPPA. At 85 feet long, this tandem float is a whale of a float carrying 74 riders.FLOAT 25: SCOOBY-DOO ON VOODOO ISLAND. (1998) Based on Hanna-Barbera’s Scooby-Doo cartoons, the film has the gang unite in New Orleans to investigate a bayou island.FLOAT 26: A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE. (1951) Adapted from Tennessee Williams’s prize-winning play, the movie tells the story of Blanche DuBois, who, after encountering a series of personal losses, leaves her aristocratic background seeking refuge with her sister and brother-in-law in a dilapidated New Orleans tenement.FLOAT 27: BACCHANEERS--THE BUCCANEER. (1958). Tells a heavily fictionalized version of how the privateer Lafitte helped in the Battle of New Orleans and how he had to choose between fighting for America or the British.FLOAT 28: NCIS: NEW ORLEANS. (2014-2019). A television show that follows a fictional team of Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) agents stationed out of New Orleans.

FLOAT 29: THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG. (2009). This animated film is loosely based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale “The Frog Prince.” The story is of a hardworking waitress named Tiana who dreams of owning her own restaurant. After kissing a prince who has been turned into a frog by an evil voodoo sorcerer, Tiana becomes a frog herself and must find a way to turn back to a human.FLOAT 30: CAT PEOPLE. (1982). The script is loosely based on the original 1942 film “Cat People.” The film has Irena Gallier traveling to New Orleans to reconnect with her family when she learns their secret: They are werecats.FLOAT 31: JFK. (1991). This film examines the events leading to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and the alleged cover-up through the eyes of New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison.FLOAT 32: KING CREOLE. (1958). This film is based on the 1952 novel “A Stone for Danny Fisher” by Harold Robbins about a 19-year-old named Danny Fisher who gets mixed up with crooks and involved with two women.
