It is very important that each of our soph- omore students report to the correct testing room at 8:20 AM each morning (Tuesday-Thursday.) Testing locations for the standard administration are located on the third floor and individual testing locations were emailed to each sophomore last week. Students who are testing in alternate settings should have already been notified of their testing location by either their Guidance Counselor or Special Education liaison. If you are unsure of your testing location, please stop at the main office before school on Tuesday. Room relocations for classes regularly scheduled on the third floor will be posted throughout the building and emailed directly to students in grades 9, 11 and 12. I want to provide a few important reminders for students taking the exam this week. Any portable electronic devices (computer, cell phone, smart watch, fitness tracker, etc.) must be off and away in your school bag. Accessing any of these devices during the exam, during breaks, or while others may still be testing in the classroom may lead to the invalidation of your exam and others around you. Students may bring a water bottle to the exam and a snack to eat during the scheduled break. I would also encourage everyone to bring a book to read after you have passed in your completed test for the day. Our DHS PTO is looking for some interested new parents to join their board. As the school representative to the PTO over the last few years, it is hard to understate how important these parents have been in their support of our students, teachers and the whole school communi- ty in ways big and small. The PTO is hoping to connect with some parents with students in grades nine and ten who are interested in having a larger role within the organization. If you are interested, please contact Chris Coakley (PTO President) at [email protected] The DPS Curriculum Leadership Committee is looking for two new student representatives for the 2018-2019 school year. This committee is made up of teachers, students, parents, principals and curriculum leaders from across the district. The charge of this committee is to lead the curriculum review cycle which focus specifically on Math in grades 6-12 in the coming year. If you are interested in serving on the committee, please send me an email at jimdonovan@ duxbury.k12.ma.us The Duxbury FACTS and DHS PTO will be hosting a screening of the film “If They Had Known” on Tuesday, April 3, at 7pm in the PAC. This movie has been screened at schools across the Commonwealth and was recently featured on Chronicle. The 30-minute film tells the story of Clay Soper from Winchester, MA, who passed away unexpectedly in 2015. While at home on break during his freshman year of college, Clay died after mixing prescription medication and alcohol. Mr. Soper’s parents will introduce the film and participate in a conversation with the audience after. We are very fortunate that both PTO and the FACTS group have purchased a license so that our Grade 10 Wellness students can view the film as part of the course next year. This evening will provide parents and students an opportunity to view the film together, and everyone is encouraged to attend
