DUSIT INTERNATIONAL SIGNS MANAGEMENT AGREEMENT
FOR DUSIT THANI GUAM
Dusit International has signed a hotel management agreement with property owners Tanota Partners for the 417-room beachside Dusit Thani Guam. Michael Ysrael of Tanota Partners, said, “We expect the Dusit Thani Guam to be a spectacular business success under Dusit International management.” Dusit International CEO Chanin Donavanik said, “The success of this new management bid by Dusit International has been spurred by our confidence both in the property and the potential of Guam as a growing destination.”
Scholarships at Dusit Thani College (Bangkok), culinary and training classes on Guam and bi-lateral internship exchange programmes, will also be available as part of the agreement. Donna Baker of Tanota Partners said, “We believe that while raising the level of professionalism in the local hospitality industry, the Dusit's educational programmes will result in many direct and indirect benefits that will provide the foundation for long-term development of the hospitality sector in Guam.”
Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket will be celebrating its 25th anniversary or Silver Jubilee year on 25 November 2012. To mark the occasion, the award-winning luxury resort is offering a slew of promotions around the number 25, to thank guests for their continuous support over the past 25 years.

Dusit Thani Maldives is pleased to announce the appointment of Desmond Hatton as General Manager of the recently opened luxury resort in Baa Atoll, the Maldives.
A native of Ireland, Hatton brings with him a wealth of hospitality experience in managing high-end luxury resorts throughout Asia and the Middle East. His career has spanned multiple hospitality disciplines in kitchen, restaurant and bar, rooms and accounting in Germany, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

Dusit International has announced the appointment of 43 year-old Silvano Trombetta as its new Corporate Director of Rooms.
A Thai national of Italian and Thai parentage, Silvano brings more than twenty years of solid management experience to his new position that sees him assuming responsibility for Dusit International rooms operations globally.
Silvano’s career includes six years as Front Office Manager at the Oriental Hotel in Bangkok and from 2002-2004, in a similar position at the Conrad Hotel Bangkok, where in 2004, he was promoted to Director of Rooms.
Raised and educated in Bangkok, Silvano is fluent in Thai and English and speaks conversational Italian. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Assumption University of Thailand.
Pattaya Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh visited Dusit Thani Pattaya to personally express his appreciation on behalf of Pattaya City for the hotel’s F&B staff who emerged victorious from two bartending competitions and from the 18th Thailand International Culinary Cup in which the resort bagged three bronze, silver and gold medals in different categories.
At the Pattaya and the East Bartender Contest 2012 held at Dusit Thani Pattaya, the hotel garnered a total of seven awards that included Miss Bartender gained by the hotel’s own performers, The Honeybees. Kanda Namboran won the second prize in Flair Bartending at the same event while later taking two of the major trophies when she participated in the Thailand Bartender Championship 2012 held at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center (BITEC). There she secured the wins for Best Flair Bartender and Best Cocktail award, besting other contestants from across Thailand. Ekasingh shared his pride with the hotel management and congratulated General Manager Chatchawal Supachayanont for his unending support and encouragement to the staff. The deputy mayor also extended the city’s appreciation to the winners for the pride, honour and prestige that their accomplishments have brought, not only to the hotel, but also to the entire city of Pattaya.

On the auspicious date of 8 September 2012, Dusit International celebrated the grand opening of its flagship resort, the Dusit Thani Maldives, in a ceremony that saw His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik, the President of the Republic of Maldives, and First Lady, Madam Illham Hussain, as the guests of honour. Also in attendance was the honourable Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Ghafoor, the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture. Dusit International CEO, Chanin Donavanik, and Chatri Sophonpanich, Chairman of Dusit Thani Public Company Limited
along with the board of directors of DMS Property Investment Private Limited, were also on hand to mark this milestone.
His Excellency, Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik, in his opening remarks, commented on the deep commitement that Dusit International has made to his country, “The Republic of the Maldives will not only benefit from economic gains and job creation as a result of Dusit International’s investment, but equally, if not more important, is the legacy afforded by the education opportunities that Dusit International will introduce to this
country.” H.E. Dr. Mohammed Waheed Hassan Manik continued, “The group has created a blue print to develop their well established and highly successful hospitality college in the Maldives.”
Chanin Donavanik, CEO of Dusit International said, “It has always been the dream of Dusit International to establish a hotel property on this beautiful island destination. To realize this dream is a source of tremendous pride and achievement for the entire Dusit group.” Donavanik reflected on the long history of the company and the vision of Thanpuying Chanut Piyaoui, founder of Dusit International, who opened the first Dusit Thani College in 1993. Furthermore, he confirmed that Dusit Thani College is in the process of being established in the Maldives.
Located on Mudhdhoo Island in Baa Atoll, Dusit Thani Maldives is just 35 minutes by seaplane from the capital Malé and only 10 minutes by speed boat from the new domestic airport opening in late 2012. It is also just a short boat ride away from Hanifaru Huraa, the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.

Dusit Thani Dubai colleagues are once again volunteering their weekends to raise funds for Operation Smile UAE, an international children's medical charity who provide safe, effective reconstructive surgery for children born with facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate.
Volunteers from Dusit Thani Dubai participated in a Dubai Flea Market organized over the summer and raised more than AED 1,500 as part of the hotel’s CSR activities to raise funds towards Dusit Smiles for Operation Smile’s efforts in the region.
The teams have taken it upon themselves to participate in all future Dubai Flea Market activities in an aim to raise further funds for the charity.
Daniel Andrews, PR & Communications Manager leading the hotel’s CSR efforts noted: “The event was such a great success for us last time that it has inspired our colleagues to do more. We have received a number of donations already from our teams and are enthusiastic that over the winter months we will be able to raise greater funds for such a worthwhile charity.”

Dusit Thani College (DTC) has officially launched its new International Bachelor of Business Administration programme in Hotel and Resort Management in association with Swiss hospitality school Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), marked by a “DTC-EHL: Gateway to Thai and Swiss Hospitality Education” forum. Veera Pardpattanapanich, Rector of Dusit Thani College, added that the new four-year degree programme, will lead to a significant transformation of hospitality education within Thailand ahead of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015. Dusit Thani College is looking to recruit up to 40 students in the first year of the programme both from Thailand and neighbouring countries.
Le Cordon Bleu Dusit Culinary School (LCBD) continues its strong commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) by offering services for particular groups and associations in Thai society. Recently, LCBD chefs, in collaboration with the Bangkok Breast Cancer Association, ran a special workshop on “healthy cuisine” to raise awareness of the importance of diet in cancer prevention. About 60 guests from the association attended the workshop and were delighted with the event – including the food tasting of the dishes prepared by our LCBD Chefs. LCBD’s Executive Master Chef Fabrice Danniel said that he was delighted to have his chef team raise awareness of the importance of making sensible choices in food selection and learning new and simple techniques to prepare nutritious and delicious dishes.
