My name is Dermutt and this is my story. It’s about my life so far

which, like most lives, has been full of ups and downs. Luckily, I’m

not a dog who lets things get on top of me, or I might have given up,

but I actually think I’ve been pretty lucky (at least so far). Maybe I

had a bit of a bad start, but things looked up from there.

I’ve learnt a lot in my short life (I think I’m about five years old) –

about humans and how strange they can be, but also nice. About

friendship and how important that is. About behaviour, and how

hard it is to be good sometimes. About the importance of being

healthy, because let’s face it, being ill is not much fun at all. Oh yes,

and about fairies. Now they are sooooo cool!

If you read this book, you’ll understand what I’m going on about.

Whether you like a ‘happily ever after’ story or a ‘Boohoo’ story, I

think you’ll enjoy this as it’s basically a bit of both. So enjoy

laughing, and get the tissues ready for a good cry as well.

And thanks to Heather Behenna for thinking up

‘Dog of Destiny’. I love that title.

‘Dermutt – Dog of Destiny’ is a heart warming story, full to the brim

with magic and friendship. Every single child of any age will love

this and the story will become a classic. It will bring a tear to the eye

and whoever reads it will never forget it.

Olive Gibbon, age 9

“I love Dermutt because he is funny, clever and sometimes quite

naughty! It is one of the best life stories I have read because you feel

like you’re there with him on all his adventures and one minute

you’re laughing, the next you’re crying. Definitely 10 out of 10!”

Heather Behenna, Age 10
