THE INTERNATIONAL COLLECTION

Duresta has been making sofas and chairs in the

‘English Country House’ style from its workshops in

Nottingham, England since 1938. As part of our 70th

Anniversary activities we decided to make a small range

of pieces which step a little beyond our normal

understated approach. We called this range the

‘International Collection’ to reflect its more diverse

styling influences.

Here for example, you will find the unrestrained

opulence of the ‘Wolfgang’ a piece which features a

Roccoco style carved frame coupled with the art of

burnished silver leaf finishing, the characterful,

throne-like ‘Kubla Khan’, the scale and flexibility of the

‘Emperor’ unit seating and the refined neo-classical

lines of the ‘Brummel’. The structural specification

follows our established practice of using solid

hardwood for our frames each fitted with either coil or

tension springs, or a suspension system to suit the

various designs. Full specifications may be found

towards the rear of this catalogue.

Each piece that leaves Duresta must first undergo a

considerable number of quality control procedures,

personally overseen by our experienced quality control

inspectors. Every item is also given a unique passport

number allowing it to be identified in great detail should

you wish to order additional pieces at a later date.

In order to protect wooden or marble floors and to enable the easy

positioning and movement of the furniture, the sections are fitted

with our ‘Supergrip’ lockable twin rubber - wheeled castors. After

connecting the sections the whole assembly can be manoeuvred with

ease. The castors can then be locked and the furniture will stay in

position. Below are plan views of some suggested combinations.
