VOCABULARY

ASSIGNMENT

Student must draw using a Durer’s Grid and enlarging a picture of the chosen image of their Black History Month Representative’s face to twice its size.

Directions

1. Use your ruler to make marks every one inch from the top left corner along the top of the box.

2. Repeat the same from the bottom left corner across the bottom of the box.

3. Use your ruler to connect the marks to make 5 perfect vertical lines.

4. Use your ruler to make marks every one inch from the top left corner down the left side of the box.

5. Repeat the same from the fifth vertical line down the right side.

6. Use your ruler to connect the marks to make 6 perfect horizontal lines.

7. You should have a one inch grid, 5 inches by 6 inches on your idea sheet.

8. Label the grid on your picture from 1 to 5 across the top and from A to F on the left/right side.

9. Make sure the labeling matches the Durer’s Grid Example from the back of this sheet.

10. Draw the Durer’s Grid Example from the back of this sheet in the grid, making each box identical to the example.

14. DEMO: Gridding photo and white paper

15. Use your ruler to draw a grid that is 1” boxes across your photo, just like your Idea Sheet.

16. Use your ruler to draw a grid that is a scale of 1:2 on the white paper in 2” boxes.

17. Label the grid on your picture from A to E across the top and from 1 to 7 on the side.

18. Label the grid on the white paper from A to E across the top and from 1 to 7 on the side.

19. Begin to copy the pictures lines and shapes onto the white paper using ONLY Ebony Pencil.

20. Continue going box to box starting with box A1, A2 and so on.

21. HINT: Draw lightly using EBONY PENCIL in the beginning to make erasing easier.

22. Begin adding the value using your ebony pencil, start with BLACK areas.

23. Erase your grid lines that are across your face and then work into your other shades.

24. Check with Ms. McAllister to see what boxes need more work.

25. Complete the drawing by filling in the boxes around your faces with a straight line pattern.
