DuraSystems ULC Listed 2 Hour Fire-Rated Duct System This space saving, fire-rated duct system arrives on the project site ready for installation. Once the system is installed, the fire resistance rating is achieved immediately without the need for an enclosure of any kind, eliminating multiple trade coordination. The system consists of a series of prefabricated duct sections that are joined together using bolted flange connections. Each duct section consists of a welded steel framework clad with a single skin of 9.5mm (3/8") thick Durasteel composite sheet. The duct system is suspended on steel threaded rods and support cradles that have been tested under fire conditions and are subsequently integral to the ULC Listing. Also part of the ULC Listing is the method of firestopping the annular space around the duct as it penetrates a rated slab or wall assembly. Additional features of the DuraSystems Fire Rated Duct System are : · the outside dimension of the duct is only 19mm (3/4") larger that sheet metal ductwork. · fire dampers are not required when passing through a fire-rated wall or slab. · excellent sound break-out properties - up to 40db attenuation @ 500 Hz. Duraduct fire-rated duct was tested to ISO Standard 6944-1985 which resulted in a 2 hour ULC Listing being published in ULC Guide No. 40 U21 as Design No. FRD-1.

Note: 1/ Chart shows cross-sectional area in m2, duct sizes in mm.2/ The 1/2" threaded rod may be threaded directly into a 1/2 x 4" wedge anchor or attached to the wedge anchor using rod couplings, eliminating the need for the steel channel section at the ceiling that is required with 3/4" support rods.3/ Use 3/4" threaded rod for all ducts with a cross-sectional area greater that 0.25 m2 (2.69 ft2).
