DuraDuct HP Transmission Loss Ratings

DuraDuct HP has fire resistance and sound breakout proper-ties that combine to create a life safety duct system that is designed to be operated at higher static pressures and air velocities through the occupied areas of buildings. Use Dura-Duct HP to run ducting through noisy space such as a gen-erator room. DuraDuct HP will keep the noise from breaking into the duct and traveling downstream to occupied spaces. Also utilize the HP system to keep the noise within the duct system when passing through quiet occupied spaces.

Reduce Duct Footprint by Increasing Velocity DuraDuct HP

Pressure Testing Results Positive Pressure systems tested to 15” w.c. Negative Pressure systems tested to 10” w.c. DuraDuct HP has been pressure tested to create a life safety duct system that is designed to be operated at higher static pressures and air velocities. These higher velocities are often required to carry the larger volume of air while still fitting into cramped ceiling spaces and shafts. The robust construction of the DuraDuct HP allows for a smaller overall duct footprint than enclosed or wrapped systems, saving space, time and money.

DuraDuct HP Blast Test Results

DuraDuct HP has been successfully tested by an independ-ent blast testing facility. It can withstand a charge of 2 Bar (approximately 27 psi) overpressure (blast) without develop-ing through openings. This life safety benefit is unmatched by any other fire rated system, and is also supplied at no extra cost. The DuraDuct HP is ideal for high risk installa-tions or where added protection of the life safety system will be required. DuraSystems continues to set the bar in testing and innovation.

DuraSystems Model HP Fire-Rated Duct System

This space saving, fire-rated duct system will arrive on the project site ready for installation. Once installed, the fire resistance rating is achieved immediately without the need for an enclosure or external wraps of any kind, eliminating multiple trade co-ordination and improving the overall schedule. DuraDuct HP was the first fire rated ventilation system tested in North America. Manufactured by DuraSystems, the DuraDuct HP consists of a series of prefabricated sections., the individual sections are joined together using 3/8” hex bolts. Each duct section consists of a fully welded steel frame, clad with a single skin of 3/8” (9.5mm) thick DuraSteel composite sheet and a Galvanized inner duct liner. The DuraDuct HP offers blast and structural capabilities which are the best in the industry. The DuraDuct HP is suspended on steel threaded rods and support cradles that are fully tested under fire conditions. The DuraDuct HP is under the UL/ULC factory follow-up program. Listing information is available at www.ul.com.

DuraDuct Model HP - Sample Specification Product Description The duct is constructed using a mechanically bonded non-combustible rigid composite board material, consist-ing of a cementitious fiber-reinforced core, mechanically bonded on both surfaces to either galvanized or stainless steel metals determined by the installation requirements or the aggressive nature of the installed environment. The duct assembly will have a minimum 2-hour fire resis-tance rating; determined in accordance with ISO 6944 and bear the UL/ULC mark. The duct assembly will withstand a minimum of a 2 Bar (approximately 27 psi) overpressure (blast) without devel-oping through openings. Construction DuraSteel Panel – 3/8” (9.5 mm) thick mechanically bonded non-combustible rigid composite board material, consisting of a cementitious fibre-reinforced core, mechani-cally bonded on both surfaces to either galvanized or stainless steel metals Supporting Angles – Steel angles as framing for the attach-ment of duct panel. Adjacent sections of duct have com-panion flanges made of steel angles. Fasteners – HWH T/5 Tek screws used to attach DuraSteel panels to the structural support angles. Screw spacing 6” (150mm) on centre 1- ½” (38mm) from edge of duct. Liner – Galvanized or Stainless steel inner duct liner. Edge Coping – Galvanized steel edge coping. Installation Install fire rated duct systems in accordance with their listings and the manufacturer’s installation instructions. Use hanging methods and systems in accordance with their listings. Firestop all locations where the fire rated duct passes through a fire rated separation with a Listed Firestop sys-tem approved for use with the duct systems being in-stalled. All material and equipment under this section is to be supplied and installed by one contractor, thus providing the complete fire rated ductwork system. Including any sub-contracting of all or a portion of the work performed by another trade required for use of an alternate system if authorized as an acceptable alternate within this specifica-tion.
