Term 3 Week 7 - Edition 14 Friday 6 September 2019
Principal’s Report
Multicultural Day
What a wonderful time our
students had learning
about different cultures on
Tuesday. We had
representatives from 10
different countries work
with our students, enjoying
games, sports activities,
craft and a heap of yummy
food. This is the 13th year
of this collaboration with
Coolangatta TAFE
International students, and
definitely won’t be the last.
A huge thanks to Ms Myler for organising this wonderful activity for
us. Thanks also to all of the parents and carers who brought food
and helped throughout the day, especially Anita who was with us
from the beginning of the day to the end.
Murwillumbah & District Garden Club, Garden Competition.
Last Wednesday the
judges from the
Murwillumbah & District
Garden Club visited our
school to judge our
garden for the annual
Garden competition.
Esha and Madi showed
them around and spoke
to them about our
program and then
attended the awards
night on Monday evening at Murwillumbah. We were fortunate
enough to be placed as one of the minor encouragement awards,
which was really pleasing. A large thanks to Madi and Esha (and
their families) for attending this award on our behalf and thanks
also to Annie for continuing this wonderful program at our school.
Public Speaking
Yesterday we had the pleasure of enjoying the Public Speaking
presentations from a number of our students. We listened to a
variety of topics from Fishing to French Food and really enjoyed all
of them. All of our students are currently learning about the
important skills of Public Speaking and this is an opportunity for
some students to represent our school at the North Coast Public
Speaking competition in Week 9. Two students were fortunate
enough to be selected for this next level opportunity: Felix Hooper
and Austin Rockwell.
We look forward to hearing how they go at this event. Thanks must
go to Mrs Jones for organising this opportunity for our students
and to all of the parents who were able to help their children with
preparation.

2019 School Evaluation Survey
Attached to this weeks’ newsletter is an annual School
Evaluation survey for the parents and carers in our
community. In this survey, community members are asked to
reflect upon the schools’ resources, environment, practices,
programs and opportunities. The information provided in this
survey will inform our school about future directions. As an
incentive, and to establish how important this information is for
our school, we are acknowledging each student with a “Q”
card as they return the survey to their teacher. Please
remember that the survey can be completed anonymously if
preferred. Any questions of comments regarding this survey
can be forwarded to me here at school.
Norfolk Excursion
Our 4/5/6 students attending this amazing experience are getting really excited. In only a week, 13 of our students and 4 of our staff will be experiencing the excursion of a lifetime. We
intend to Facebook everyday on our school site, to share our experiences and what we have learned. So exciting!

Principal’s Report Continued
Passion Projects
Our Passion Projects program was again a huge success this
year. 24 different activities were coordinated and involved al-
most 20 parents at different stages. We have decided to shelve
the program for 2019, as we felt the program had run its’
course, but we fully intend to continue the program in 2020. We
truly wish to thank all of our wonderful parents, grandparents,
carers and family members who took the time to contribute to
this excellent program. We also extend a huge thank you to
Mrs Field whose organisation of the program made it all hap-
pen so well.
Driving on School Grounds
We are aware of the difficulties around driving into the school grounds on the narrow road and this situation is being ad-
dressed next year. In the meantime please show curtesy and patience and adhere to the speed limit when entering and leav-ing the school grounds.
