Principal’s Report ~ Milly Stone Swimming Carnival On Tuesday, our annual swimming carnival was held at the Epping Aquatic Centre. The carnival was extremely well organised and ran very efficiently. I would like to thank Mr Justin Field for all his work in providing a brilliant day for all. Thank you to the staff and parent helpers who ensured the success of the swimming carnival. To all the wonderful children who competed and/or supported their house teams, you certainly showed respect, responsibility and had a very successful carnival. Children who are going to zone have received their notes. Congratulations Dural! Opal cards One of the requirements travelling on Hillsbus is the need for students to tap on and off when they travel to and from school. Opal data gathered by tapping on and off is used to determine demand for bus services. If students don’t tap on and tap off, services may be cancelled due to the lack of recorded patronage. Parents, please ensure that your children have their Opal cards with them every day and that they use them. It would be sad if some/any of our bus services were cancelled. Reading to your children This is such an important activity and the benefits are numerous. Reading to children exposes them to a richer vocabulary and has positive impacts on their language, intelligence and development of a love of literacy. The library is a wonderful resource of books as is the Children’s Book Council website. Please take the time to read to your child/children every day. Cyber safety It is important for parents to be aware of cyber safety and this website is a great read. www.thinkuknow.org.au Keep that website saved as a favourite. Working Bee This Sunday is our very first working bee for 2019. Our grounds really need your help in cutting back and tidying up all the growth we have had over summer. Our working bee commences at 8.00am and concludes at 12.30pm. Morning tea and lunch is provided. This Friday our children will be ‘Cleaning up Australia” in our school. This will be a great start to our working bee on Sunday. Children are asked to bring in gloves from home so that if they are picking up rubbish, sticks etc. their hands are protected. Bullying No Way Our leadership team is organising an activity on Friday 15 March to raise awareness about bullying. Please see the next page for details re clothing on the day and a poster competition to be held in conjunction with this activity. SWIMMING CARNIVAL

What a magnificent day Tuesday was for a

sensational swimming carnival. The conditions

were perfect.

Well done to all swimmers who tried their

best and competed on the day. The

competition was quite fierce for places in the

Zone Team in some events. A massive thank

you to all the parent helpers; without your

help and assistance events like this cannot be

successful.

Beecroft Zone Softball Trial The Zone Convenor is asking for nominations

from boys and girls in year 5 and/or 6 who

are representative softball players or play in

a high level weekend team level and possess a

very high knowledge and understanding of

softball.

Students will have to supply their own

softball gear at the trial including a

mouthguard and shin-pads.

The Zone Convenor is not asking for

nominations from average or above average

players. If your child meets the above

criteria they need to see Mr Field ASAP.

The PRC student site is available this year! Students can search for books to read, add books to their reading logs, and track their progress throughout the challenge. The website is currently being updated and will be available for students when the challenge opens on March 4. You can find the site at https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/studentExperience.html#/ and there is a useful help video available to demonstrate how the site works.
