1.0 Summary
During March 1997, two diamond drill holes totalling 1783.3 feet were drilled by Consolidated Professor Mines Limited to follow-up on previous drill holes which had intersected significant gold mineralization, including visible gold, from the Stevens Island Deformation Zone (S.I.D.Z.).
The S.I.D.Z. is located adjacent to the Duport Deformation Zone (D.D.Z.), which hosts the Duport Mine and is located about 28 miles south-west of Kenora, Ontario. The Duport Mine has published reserves of about 2 million tons at 0.35 opt.
The holes were drilled to test the S.I.D.Z. on claim 1105262, which is one of a group of water covered claims held by Consolidated Professor Mines Ltd. under an option agreement from W. Yeomans and D. MacEachern.
Results from the drilling were encouraging, several narrow and well mineralized quartz veins were intersected. Assays of up to 0.343 opt. Au/2.01 from hole SL97-1 and 0.341 opt Au/2.5' from hole SL97-2 were returned. Additional drilling is therefore recommended on the S.I.D.Z.
2.0 Property Location and Access
The Yeomans Option Property consists of a block of five claims, numbered 1161596, 1161598, 1105260, 1105621 and 1105262, and are located on the Snowshoe Bay Map Sheet (G-2645). The claims are mostly covered by the waters of Shoal Lake between Stevens Island and Starting Point.
Access to the property can be attained from either the Clytie Bay Landing, about 5 miles to the northeast, or from Kejick, about 5 miles to the northwest. The Clytie Bay Landing is about 24 miles southwest of Kenora.

3.0 Previous Work
Prospecting for gold in the Shoal Lake area dates back to the late 1800's, and past production from three mines in the area (Mikado, Duport and Cedar Island) totals about 40,000 oz.
Previous work on the property has included geophysical surveys and diamond drilling from the ice by Selco in 1983-1985. Drill hole S-5 intersected 0.185 opt/4.8' while testing a HLEM conductor about Vz mile west of Starting Point.
Exploration Brex Inc. followed-up on the Selco work and did mapping, geophysical surveys and winter drilling in 1989 and 1990. This work effectively traced out the Stevens Island Deformation Zone (S.I.D.Z.) for a distance of about 1.5 miles, from the north end of Stevens Island to a point about 1/2 mile west of Starting Point (near Island J.O. 177). One hole drilled near the north end of Stevens Island contained several specks of visible gold in quartz veins within sheared and mineralized diorite, typical of the S.I.D.Z.
4.0 Geology
The Shoal Lake area is located in the western part of the Wabigoon Subprovince and is comprised of Archean volcanic and sedimentary rocks which have been intruded by granites.
High strain zones developed between these granitic complexes, and these zones represent favourable structural sites for gold deposition.
The Stevens Island Deformation Zone (S.I.D.Z.) represents one of the zones, as it is situated between the Snowshoe Bay Batholith and the Canoe Lake Stock. The parallel Duport Deformation Zone (D.D.Z.), which hosts the Duport Mine, is also a representation of one of these zones.
The S.I.D.Z. occurs within the Stevens Island mafic intrusive complex, which is a synvolcanic sill comprised of a basal pyroxenite, a diorite, an anorthositic diorite and a quartz diorite.
Gold mineralization within the S.I.D.Z. occurs in areas of shearing within the diorite, and within quartz veins with chlorite schist margins, and zones of silicification. This style of mineralization is similar to that observed at the Duport Mine, and it is considered to be contemporaneous with the mineralizing event at Duport.
Refer to Figure 3.

5.0 1997 Drill Program
a) Summary
The 1997 Drill program on the Yeomans property was designed to follow-up on the significant results obtained by Exploration Brex on the S.I.D.Z.
Mild weather during the program eliminated the possibility of ice based drilling, so the program was slightly modified such that the holes were drilled from the northern part of Stevens Island. The objective of the program was still met however, as both holes effectively tested the southern portion of the S.I.D.Z.
Hole SL97-1 was drilled at the northern-most tip of Stevens Island, at an azimuth of 150 degrees, and cored Stevens Island Diorite for the entire length of the hole. Numerous chloritic shear zones and some well developed, but narrow quartz veins were intersected. The veins were generally of the crack-seal type, and where the wall-rock was well mineralized with sulphides (pyrite and pyrrhotite) significant gold values were obtained.
Hole SL97-2 was drilled 400 feet south of SL97-1, and cored identical geology as that seen in SL97-1.
b) Procedures
The drill core was logged and split on site using the Duport Mine coreshack. A copy of the legend used is included in the Appendix of this report.
Samples obtained from the core were taken either as split core or as whole core grabs. Quartz veins, shear zones, and other areas identified while logging the core as potentially having significant gold values were split to obtain a sample. Wide intervals were sampled by grabbing several 1" pieces of core to represent the entire interval in areas considered not likely to contain appreciable gold values. The sample type is identified on the drill log as either 'S' for split or 'G' for grab.
c) Results
The best assay returned from SL97-1 was 0.343opt Au/2.01 at 558.0'-560.0' from some narrow, well mineralized quartz veins. Other veins returned significant assays in the O.OSOopt Au/1.5' to 0.146opt Au/1.0' range. Chloritic shears also returned elevated values, ranging up to 0.069opt Au/2.01 at 100.0'-102.0'. Hole SL97-2 returned an assay of 0.341 opt Au/2.5' at 284.5'-287.0' from a quartz vein, and a nearby vein assayed 0.288 opt Au/1.01 at 279.0'-280.0. Other veins and chloritic shears also returned elevated values.
6.0 Conclusions and Recommendations
The 1997 Drill Program on the Yeomans Option Property which tested the Stevens Island Deformation Zone returned significant gold values. The program built on previous drill results, and more drilling is warranted on this underexplored deformation zone which is located adjacent to a similar zone which contains the Duport Mine.
