In late August, in conjunction with construction of th e DuPage Public S afe ty Com m unications’ (DU-COMM) new com m unications ce nte r, work will begin on im prove m e nts to th e we ste rn portion of th e County’s Gove rnm e nt Com plex. Th e im prove m e nts includ e installation of a m ulti-use path with connection to th e Winfie ld Me tra S tation and re storation of th e surround ing wood land. Wh e n com ple te, approxim ate ly 16 acre s of wood land and turf grass will be re store d to a d ive rse native plant com m unity, offe ring a m ultitud e of flood control and wate r quality be nefits. Th e first ph ase of th is project is construction of th e path , wh ich will exte nd from Be ech e r Road to th e we st to County Farm Road to th e east. Wh ile th e re m oval of som e tre e s is unavoid able, th e path alignm e nt h as be e n d e signe d to spare as m any as possible. Th e curre nt sch e d ule from th e contractor, V3 Com panie s, ind icate s construction of th e path will take place th rough th e e nd of Octobe r 2017. Following construction of th e path , re storation work will com m e nce. Th is includ e s re placing invasive plant specie s, such as Buckth orn and Honeysuckle, with native plants. Native plants prom ote infiltration of storm wate r runoff, as we ll as provid e h abitat to d e sirable insects and bird s. Th is work is expecte d to be com ple te d by May 2018. Th e re will be no im pacts to your prope rty, but please be aware th at it is possible th at you will expe rie nce typical construction d isturbance s d uring th e workday. Construction will occur Mond ay th rough Frid ay be twe e n th e h ours of 7 a.m . to 4 p.m .
