Description

Floatograph uses an ALTEN DC generator as a reliable and efficient backup battery charger for its cellular on wheels (COW) application. Power from solar panels and a wind turbine are backed up by ALTEN’s DC generator to keep critical communications systems operation for extended periods.

Description

To avoid costly trips into remote oil fields to restore power to solar-powered SCADA systems, TOG installed an ALTEN DC generator to monitor battery state-of-charge and automatically recharge the batteries as required.

In addition, TOG installed the ALTEN RMS to allow for remote monitoring of the DC generator and battery bank, including fuel supply, temperature and state-of-charge.

Manufactured by AltaStream for the extreme cold of the Yukon, the insulated mobile power center houses a solar panel and wind turbine and is backed up by ALTEN’s DC generator to recharge batteries powering critical communications systems.

Description

For many run-of-river and micro hydro projects, seasonal fluctuations in creek levels pose a threat to maintaining station batteries that provide power to operation controls and other critical systems. Regional Power Inc. purchased an auto-start DUKE 2480 to provide a seamless backup DC power supply to the station batteries at the Sechelt Creek Generating Station.

DUKE 24160 EX EXTENDED RUNTIME, Available only with the Electric Start models, the EX has all the features of the E model plus an extra deep aluminum sump that increases the reservoir capacity, doubling the service interval from 250 hours to 500 hours for special applications where access is limited to service the Duke on a regular basis.

SELECT OPTIONS FOR CONFIGURATIONOnce the right engine configuration has been selected (e.g. DUKE 2480 EX) you can add the following options to configure your DUKE Diesel DC Generator to your specific application:

AUTO START ENCLOSURE

The DUKE Auto Start system monitors battery state-of-charge and automatically operates the DUKE Diesel DC Generator. The system can allow for further automation of functions and communications. (Only available with E and EX models).

The DUKE enclosure is made with 5052 corrosion resistant aluminum and powder coated to withstand harsh environments and rugged applications. Machine inserted plated fastening hardware provides for precision assembly and added durability. Built-in engine vibration isolation and ventilation provide for smooth and cool operation.

FUEL SUPPLY OPTIONS REMOTE MONITORING SYSTEM

All of our DUKE Diesel DC Generators are available with a choice of three fuel supply options:

▶ 1 gallon fuel tank (standard) ▶ 20 gallon base fuel tank for up to 80 hours of

runtime ▶ an auxiliary fuel supply connection to connect

directly to onsite or on-vehicle fuel storage tanks

Based on a MODBUS communications protocol, the DUKE Remote Monitoring System (RMS) provides IP-based connectivity through any internet browser. Users can manually operate and monitor the DUKE Diesel DC Generator. The RMS also supports other peripherals through serial, USB and relay ports and terminals.

PORTABLE CART COLD WEATHER KIT

2-wheeled pneumatic rubber tired cart with pull handle, allows for safe and effortless transport of the DUKE Diesel DC Generator to wherever it’s needed around the site.

The DUKE Cold Weather Kit is a necessity for any application where ambient temperature falls below 0°C (32°F). The onboard thermostat controls an 80W block heater to keep the engine ready for cold starts.

NOISE DAMPENING OPEN BASE PLATE

The Hatz diesel engine runs smooth a quiet compared to other air-cooled diesel engines. However, if noise is a concern, further dampening can be achieved with the DUKE secondary muffler kit.

A formed 5052 aluminum base plate with engine vibration isolation. This option allows for an open configuration and custom mounting of the DUKE Diesel DC Generator.
