BACKGROUND• The Dublin African Film Festival (DAFF), established in 2011, is Irelands premier feature
film festival that showcases the vibrant African films over several days with a final award ceremony
• DAFF prides its uniqueness by creating a sustainable forum of exchange between the wider Irish society and the African film industry
• DAFF is also an initiative that gives life to arts and films through which diversity and commonalities in identity are explored and promoted between Africans and wider Irish audience
AFRICAN FILMSTAR OVERVIEW• African Filmstar is an acting competition that focuses on aspiring and emerging actors
who are African or of African decent
• Contestants will move along the ranks based on viewer voting
• The goal is to discover new talent in the African movie industry
• The winners of the competition will star in a major African blockbuster called “Islanders”, which will be screened as the headliner at DAFF
• The show will entertain, inspire Africans in the craft of acting and showcase modern African cinema to the world at large
• African cinema has made huge strides over the years with Nollywood gaining international recognition as the second largest film industry in the world. African Filmstar competitions provide an avenue to build on the awareness and brand within the cinema industry

OPEN AUDITIONS FOR CASTING• Increase talent search by hosting open auditions
