Benefits of Dual Enrollment !  Increasing the number of underserved students

who are ready for college.

!  Providing realistic information to high school students about the skills they need for college. (Most high school graduates have no idea they won’t be able to enroll in a college class but need remediation courses before they begin.)

!  Saving time and money by compressing the years of financial support needed to attend college.

!  Creating a smoother transition for students and feedback from K-12 to postsecondary systems. (Hoffman, Vargas & Santos, 2009).

Course Transferability

!  Most credits will transfer to all of Arizona’s public colleges and universities

!  There is a high success rate in transferring courses to out-of-state colleges and universities due to Rio Salado’s accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission and the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partners

!  Confirm transferability with colleges and universities

Ready, Set, Graduate!

!  College Completion rates are dismal -Nationally less than 50% of students enrolled in college will earn an associate degree within three years or a bachelor’s degree within six years.

!  Drop-out rate alarming! - 25% of full-time freshman at four-year institutions drop out and 39% of the freshmen at two-year institutions do not return the following fall. The rates are even worse for part-time students (Karp, 2012).
