Welcome to DTSFounded in 1924, our mission is, “to glorify God by equipping godly servant-lead-ers for the proclamation of His Word and the building up of the body of Christ worldwide.” In other words, we want to help men and women fulfill the Great Commission and the Great Commandment, or more simply: Teach Truth. Love Well.

The Entire Gospel Story through All 66 BooksDTS affirms that the seminary experience is foundationally a process of spiritual transformation, and at the center of that journey is the Triune God and His Word. That’s why every degree program at DTS covers all 66 books of the Bible and devotes an entire semester to studying the Trinity. This means you’ll get more Bible and theology in our 2-year degrees than in most 3-year M.Div.s and even more in our Th.M. degree.

A Diverse Community of 70+ DenominationsEvery year DTS faculty reaffirm a common doctrinal statement, which means students never have to wonder about the perspective of those under whom they are studying. Yet, the student body is a rich mosaic of men and women from over 70 denominations, who benefit from one another’s diverse traditions, ages, ethnicities, and future ministry goals.

Church Partnerships for On-the-Job TrainingDTS maintains strong partnerships with local churches and ministries around the globe to ensure that seminarians have opportunities to put what they are learning into practice as soon as possible. Students can earn up to 12 hours of credit in a paid internship that can range from preaching in a church to leading in the business sector, or serving the poor and brokenhearted.

Student Stories

KEEYON UPKINS When Keeyon arrived on campus, he was prepared for the rigorous academics and challenging coursework of seminary. What he didn’t expect to find was the pastoral heart his professors have for their students. “Pretty much all our professors find ways to implement what they’ve been teaching on a spiritual level,” he says. “Don’t get me wrong —you will work hard! But professors do their darnedest to make sure you’re not just pursuing an intellectual accomplishment.”

JESSICA MORRIS After graduating from SMU with a degree in music performance, Jessica came to DTS to deepen her understanding of theology and to “take the time to be spiritually formed.” Along the way, she has also helped form the next generation as a youth ministry intern at her church in Dallas. It’s an experience that has given her both on-the-ground ministry practice as well as course credit toward her degree, and one she recommends to any DTS student. “Your theological education will extend well beyond your classes,” she says. “It’s a way to get out there and actually do ministry in a place where you’re dealing with people and using your gifts.”

SARITA JOHNWhen her husband, Sam, became a student at DTS, Sarita never expected to follow in his footsteps. “God’s plans are always better than our own!” she says. With their DTS training, the couple hopes to start counseling programs at their church. Sarita is especially passionate about women’s ministry. “If I have the responsibility of leading women, I need to know what I’m teaching them is biblically sound,” she says emphatically. “That’s why I’m here. I don’t want it to just be ‘Sarita’s interpretation.’”

FALK ALICKEFor Falk and his wife, Libby, DTS is truly a family affair. They took their children (ages 13, 6, 4, and 2) on a trip to Ethiopia led by Dr. Victor Anderson last summer. “Our goal was to see how we functioned as a family over there,” Falk says. “It was amazing to watch the whole family adjust.” Adds Libby, “The kids loved it. It was a life-changing experience.” While Falk and Libby are the first to admit that balancing school, work, and family isn’t easy, they’ve seen God use their time at DTS to strengthen their marriage and reveal how He wants to use them in cross-cultural ministry. “Studying here changed my understanding of missions, and it’s given us an openness and willingness to go wherever God calls us to be,” Falk says. “Our family is stronger than ever now.” 10%International students make up
