Title: IDT January 2018
Background of Event: Main focus of
training was Combat Lifesaver (CLS)
recertification, CORE drivers training,
online Pre-Overseas Deployment
Training (ODT), and packing
equipment for the upcoming ODT
mission to Poland.
Key Points of Training:
Starting on Saturday the CLS re-cert
class hit the ground with textbook
instruction before moving into hands
on training. The drivers training was
conducted in Marquette with FSC on
both days. For those Soldiers not in
the aforementioned classes, the Pre-
ODT online training consisted of
ISOPREP, SERE, and several other
online classes. The training continued
throughout the weekend with “round
robin” style conducted by section of
the AWT 9 and AWT Battle Drill 3.Top Left: SFC Loeks receives Chaplain
Bryan’s silver coin. The silver coin is
presented to whomever receives the first
salute from a newly commissioned officer.

Title: IDT January 2018
Background of Event: The Main
focus of drill was PMCS, OAP,
Combat Lifesaver (CLS) Re-cert,
Drivers Training and online training for
the Overseas Deployment Training
(ODT) mission in Poland.
Key Points of Training:
The FSC completed monthly PMCS
and OAP draws. Services were
completed on FSC 501, FSC 501X,
HHC 34 and repairs were made to
HHC 81.
CLS Re-cert was completed on
Saturday in Ishpeming. FSC and
HHC conducted drivers training in
Marquette.

Title: The 1430 EN CO (VERT)
conducted unit movement in
preparation for regular drills in the
new Traverse City Armory which will
occur in February.
Background of Event: The 1430 EN
CO began to move equipment from
the Gladstone armory to the Traverse
City Armory. This was the first month
in the new Armory. Soldiers convoyed
down with equipment to Traverse City
and unloaded equipment.
Key Points of Training:

Title: The 1431 EN CO (SAPPER) conducted
January drill with a focus on Warrior Tasks 6
and 7: Perform Voice Communications and use
of Visual Signaling Techniques
Background of Event: On 06 January the unit
started off drill by promoting SFC Deforge into
the 1SG position (Top Left), promoting two
Soldiers, one to E-3 and one to E-4, welcoming
three new soldiers into the unit (Left Center),
and extending SGT Roberts for 6 years (Center
Bottom).
Key Points of Training:
On Saturday the Company conducted
classroom training on Perform Voice
Communications. SGT Fleming conducted a
very thorough class, starting from the installing a
radio into a vehicle mount, to loading COMSEC.
SSG Braund conducted a class on the DAGR
(Top Right) and PV2 Riggins taught Visual
Signal Techniques.
On Sunday, the Platoons conducted movement
on snowshoes to three stations, utilizing the
skills they learned the day prior they sent up a
SPOTREP, SITREP, and MEDEVAC.
Leaders finalized plans for the unit’s event
scheduled for next month’s drill. Discussed
manning and the movement to our new location.
As well as, several administrative tasks were
completed to include: NCOERS, a SMET
meeting, and a company training meeting (T6).

Title: The 1432 EN CO (ESC) conducted
IDT in order to conduct prep for their
upcoming Overseas Deployment Training
(ODT) and maintain unit readiness.
Key Points of Training: The main
training focus was to conduct SERE 100.2,
Level 1 Antiterrorism, TARP, Accident
Avoidance, and ISOPREP individual online
training. Equipment maintenance and
services were also conducted in preparation
for the upcoming ODT. A safety and suicide
stand down was conducted along with
support from bereavement counselors that
was available on Saturday. Pam Basal the
USERRA representative was present to
assist Soldiers with any questions and
information regarding their civilian
employment.
The 1432 EN CO said farewell to the Iron
River Armory with the Second Annual Chili
Cook-off and a get together along with
retired guard members.
