DS3 CONNECTORS FOR 735A AND 734AOur new DS3 Mini BNC connector was specifically

designed for DS3 central office applications to allow

a higher number of connectors/assemblies to be in-

stalled in a given area. The new Mini BNC shares the

same positive attributes as our popular standard

BNC, only in a smaller footprint. There is no need to

re-tool as the new Mini-BNC uses exactly the same

tool set as our standard BNC plug.

Depending on the brand, MilesTek BNC’s are equal

to or exceed the quality of other competitors. For

example, our BNC plug bodies are machined from

brass and then plated with bright nickel. Other inferior

brands have cheaper die cast bodies.

The BNC connector body also incorporates a beryllium

copper wave washer to allow it to flex during mating

and provide uninterruptible continuity of the shield

signal. Teflon, the best dielectric, provides the proper

75 ohm impedance and securely hold the captive

center pin. The MilesTek BNC center pins are plated

with 30 micron inches of gold for maximum contact.

Pull strength is very important especially on smaller

cables such as 735A. MilesTek BNC plugs have a

diamond knurling for maximum cable retention.

Having tested thousands of cable assemblies,

MilesTek BNC’s recorded a pull test performance

of 49.3 inch lbs. on 735A cable.

TOOLINGThe MilesTek Advantage includes the entire tooling

requirement for the correct installation of our

connectors. The 40-50176 is a complete tool kit

designed to work with MilesTek DS3 connectors.

Our kit employs a ½ inch die set that completes the

crimp on the sleeve and it also contains a 12 point pin

crimp tool for the center pin. Several other tools make

up the kit to assist in the installation of our connectors.

COAXIAL DS3 Adapters and Test Kits



The BNC Adapters are offered in a 75 Ω version.

The 75 Ω type will operate with a digital DS3 signal

transmission. Digital signals in the telecommunications

industry have necessitated the usage of 75Ω connectors

with 75Ω cable. Mismatched adapters cause attenuation

of the digital signal resulting in slower rise time of

square waves. This distortion of the signal can cause

transmission errors. Also, impedance mismatched

connections cause reflections of the signal returning

to the source known as return loss. Perhaps one

mismatched connection will not have a noticeable

effect on system performance, but multiple mismatched

connections in the link between the source and

destination have a cumulative effect causing

possible distortion of the transmitted signal.

BNC BULKHEAD JACKS/PANELSBNC bulkhead isolated jacks are available in 50Ω and 75Ω versions.

The 50Ω type is sufficiant for analog video. Although designed for digital

video, the 75Ω type will operate with analog video. Panels are made of

16 gauge steel with rolled edges for rigidly and are painted black. They

have 0.505” diameter “D” holes to mount bulkhead isolated jacks.

Model BSP are without designated strips. Model BDPD have two 0.70”

wide designation strips. BNC jacks in the distribution panels are either

10-02538 (50Ω) or 10-03538 (75Ω). Panel widths are 19” or 23” (without

designated strips). All panels are 3.5” high except the 1x16 panels,

which are 1.75” high.

50 Ω vs. 75 Ω BNCTraditional 50 Ω BNC connectors that are installed on 75Ω coaxial videocable cause digital signal distortion which results in digital transmissionerrors. The mechanical differences between the two types of connectorsare the dielectric insulators and center pins. The 75Ω connector employsTeflon as a dielectric and air around its outer spring fingers as comparedto Delrin surrounding the spring fingers of the 50Ω type. Also the 75Ωconnector's center pin has the same diameter in the front and rear areaswhere the pin is crimped to the cable's center conductor; the 50Ωconnector's pin has a larger diameter in the crimp area. Therefore, different crimp tools are required for two types of center pins.

However, both types on connectors mate mechanically without physicaldamage. Nevertheless, the 50Ω connector is adequate for analog video applications.

Is the quality of MilesTek B�C's the same as other brands?

Depending on the brand, MilesTek BNC's are equal to or exceed

the quality of other competitors. For example, the MilesTek BNC

plug bodies are machined from virgin brass in accordance with

MIL-C39012 and then plated with bright nickel. Many other less

expensive brands have cheaper die cast bodies. Furthermore, the

MilesTek BNC body incorporates a beryllium copper wave washer

to allow the BNC to flex during mating and to provide firm

uninterruptible continuity of the shield signal. Teflon, the best

dielectric, provides the proper dielectric for 75Ω impedance and

securely holds the captive center pin.

How is your B�C center pin different than some other brands?

In order to be true 75Ω impedance, the center pin has the same

diameter in the crimp area as the mating area. Our captive BNC pins

are plated with 30 µ” of gold in accordance with MIL-G-45204.

More than 30 µ” is unnecessary for normal use. Some competitive

brands have a 75Ω body with 50Ω center pin to eliminate the necessity

of a separate center pin crimper. If tested, the connector with 50Ω pin

and 75Ω body produces an impedance of approximately 68Ω .

Should the B�C body have enclosed beryllium copper spring fingers?

One manufacturer promotes this idea. Unless the BNC is subject to

abuse such as thousands of matings and foreign objects poking into

the interface of the connector, this design is unnecessary.

What about cable pull strength?

Pull strength is important on small diameter cables such as 735A.

MilesTek BNC plugs have diamond knurling for maximum cable

retention. Out of 3,000 to 4,000 coaxial cable assemblies,

MilesTek's BNC's for 735A recorded pull test performance of

49.3 Ibs. The minimum specification is 30 Ibs.

Surface raceway, fittings and junction boxes are made of 94V-0 PVC and come

in 6 ft. and 8 ft. lengths and three widths, ¾”, 1¼” and 1¾”. Ideal for low-voltage

UTP and coaxial wire, surface raceway system is a one-piece latching duct

designed to contain, route and protect wire and cable when not feasible to run it

within the wall. One-piece design cable duct has a flexible hinge, allowing

numerous openings without discoloration or stress cracking. Self-locking, hidden

positive latch allows quick re-entry and secure cable installation.

Wide raceway base/boxes have foam-backed adhesive to assist in quick installation.

Rubber-based adhesive is pressure-sensitive foam tape with high ultimate bond

strength, conforming to most any surface. Sold in single pieces or economical

20-piece boxes. Minimum 1” bend radius fittings. 2” deep single-gang and 1½”

deep double-gang junction boxes offered. Fittings for 1” minimum bend radius

conform to EIA/TIA CAT5e/5 requirements.

The following are the terms and conditions ("Terms and Conditions") for the saleof products ("Products") by MilesTek Corp. ("MilesTek") to MilesTek's customers("Customers"). PLEASE READ THIS AGREEMENT CAREFULLY. ANY DIFFERENTOR ADDITIONAL TERMS SET FORTH IN CUSTOMER'S PURCHASE ORDEROR SIMILAR COMMUNICATION ARE OBJECTED TO AND SHALL NOT BEBINDING ON THE COMPANY UNLESS A SEPARATE AGREEMENT HAS BEENSIGNED BY AN AUTHORIZED OFFICER OF THE COMPANY. BY PLACING ANORDER FOR PRODUCTS FROM THE COMPANY, OR BY ACCEPTING DELIVERYOF THE PRODUCTS DESCRIBED ON THE APPLICABLE PACKING SLIP, BILLOF LADING AND/OR INVOICE RECEIVED WITH THE PRODUCTS, YOU AGREETO BE BOUND BY AND ACCEPT THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE.

1. ACCEPTANCE AND CANCELLATION OF ORDERSAll orders are subject to acceptance by MilesTek in writing by a duly authorizedagent of MilesTek; any written acknowledgement of receipt of an order shall not,in and of itself, constitute such acceptance. Orders accepted and processed byMilesTek may not be cancelled by Customer except as covered by the LimitedWarranty. Non-Standard Parts are defined as Products which are special orders,custom orders, orders for non-standard products, products not customarily in stockor orders for value-added products. Non-standard products are Non-Cancelableand Non-Refundable and for these products, all sales are final. Cable Assembliesbuilt-to-order in our facility are Non-Standard Products and are also Non-Cance-lable/Non-Refundable (“NC/NR”). In the event of cancellation or other withdrawal ofan order for any reason and without limiting any other remedy which MilesTek mayhave as a result of such cancellation or other withdrawal, reasonable cancellation orrestocking charges, which shall include all expenses than incurred and commitmentsmade by MilesTek, shall be paid by Customer to MilesTek. Customer requests toreschedule are subject to acceptance by MilesTek in its sole discretion. Ordersmay not be canceled or rescheduled after the order has been submitted byMilesTek to the shipment carrier. MilesTek reserves the right to allocate sales andlimit quantities of selected Products among its customers in its sole discretion.Product specifications and availability are subject to change without prior notice.

2. PRICESOrders are billed at the prices (in US dollars) in effect at the time of shipment.Prices will be as specified by MilesTek and will be applicable for the periodspecified in MilesTek's quote. If no period is specified, quoted prices will beapplicable for thirty (30) days. Most current pricing will be as displayed on theMilesTek website found at www.MilesTek.com, or any of it’s affiliated websites(e.g. www.MilesTek1553.com, and others). The catalog reflects the latest pricinginformation available at the time of printing. Prices shown in the catalog are subjectto change without notice. Prices are subject to increase in the event of an increasein MilesTek's costs or other circumstances beyond MilesTek's reasonable control.If Customer does not purchase the quantity upon which quantity prices are based,Customer will pay the non-discounted price for the quantity actually purchasedand/or a cancellation or restocking fee. Prices are exclusive of taxes, impositionsand other charges, including: sales, use, excise, value added and similar taxes orcharges imposed by any government authority, international shipping charges,forwarding agent's and broker's fees, bank fees, consular fees, document feesand import duties.

3. TERMS OF PAYMENTAll payments must be in US Dollars.

For Domestic OrdersWe accept major credit cards MasterCard, VISA, American Express, and Discover.We also offer C.O.D. and Pre-paid by wire transfer, money order, company or personalcheck (personal check will delay order up to two weeks). Open Account Credit isavailable to businesses, schools and institutions or as otherwise specified byMilesTek subject to an approved credit application. To obtain a credit application,please contact any Customer Service or Sales Representative by calling 1-800-524-7444, or (+1) 940-484-9400. Or you may download a copy of theMilesTek Credit Application form.

For International OrdersWe offer MasterCard, VISA, American Express, Discover, prepaid by wire transfer,cashier's check in U.S.Dollars, as well as open account credit to qualified institutionsand businesses. We cannot accept personal checks or certified personal checks.Money orders can result in significant delays. Payment via Open Account Creditcan be established for companies having three U.S. references. We also offerPre-paid by wire transfer, a wire transfer fee of $25.00 must be included. Orderswill not be accepted until funds have been received in full and Purchase Order(PO) has been received. Customer is responsible for duties and taxes.

3.1 TERMS OF PAYMENTFor All OrdersCustomer agrees to pay the entire net amount of each invoice from MilesTekpursuant to the terms of each such invoice without offset or deduction. Orders aresubject to credit approval by MilesTek, which may in its sole discretion at any timechange the terms of Customer's credit, require payment in cash, bank wire transferor by official bank check and/or require payment of any or all amounts due or tobecome due for Customer's order before shipment of any or all of the Products. IfMilesTek reasonably believes that the Customer's ability to make payments maybe impaired or if Customer fails to pay any invoice when due, MilesTek may suspenddelivery of any order or any remaining balance thereof until such payment ismade or cancel any order or any remaining balance thereof, and Customer willremain liable to pay for any Products already shipped and all Non-StandardProducts ordered by Customer. Customer agrees to submit such financial informationas MilesTek may reasonably require for determination of credit terms and/orcontinuation of credit terms. Checks are accepted subject to collection and thedate of collection will be deemed the date of payment. Any check received fromCustomer may be applied by MilesTek against any obligation owing by Customerto MilesTek under this or any other contract, regardless of any statement appearingon or referring to such check, without discharging Customer's liability for anyadditional amounts owing by Customer to MilesTek. The acceptance by MilesTekof such check will not constitute a waiver of MilesTek's right to pursue the collectionof any remaining balance. Invoices not paid when due will bear interest to date ofpayment at the annual rate of eighteen (18%) percent or such lower rate as maybe the maximum permitted by law. If Customer fails to make payment when due,MilesTek may pursue any legal or equitable remedies, in which event MilesTek willbe entitled to reimbursement for costs of collection and reasonable attorneys'fees. There is a $25.00 service charge on all returned checks.

4. SALES TAXOnly residents of the State of Texas need to remit sales tax. MilesTek does notremit sales tax to states other than Texas. Any sales tax due that is not collectedby MilesTek is the responsibility of the customer.

5. DELIVERY AND TITLEAll shipments by MilesTek are F.O.B. point of shipment, and the amount of alltransportation charges will be paid to MilesTek by the Customer in addition to thepurchase price of the Products. Subject to MilesTek's right of stoppage in transit,delivery of the Products to the carrier will constitute delivery to Customer and titleand risk of loss will pass to Customer. MilesTek will make reasonable efforts toinitiate shipment and schedule delivery as close as possible to Customer's requesteddelivery date(s). Customer acknowledges that delivery dates provided by MilesTekare estimates only and that MilesTek will not be liable for failure to deliver on suchdates. Selection of the carrier and delivery route will be made by MilesTek unlessspecifically designated by Customer. MilesTek reserves the right to make deliveriesin installments. Delay in delivery of one installment will not entitle Customer tocancel any other installment(s). Delivery of any installment of Products withinthirty (30) days after the date requested will constitute a timely delivery. Deliveryof a quantity which varies from the quantity specified shall not relieve Customer ofthe obligation to accept delivery and pay for the Products delivered.

6. MILESTEK'S LIMITED WARRANTYMilesTek warrants its products to be free from defects of workmanship and material.

If any such defects occur, replacement will be made without charge to our Customers.We strive to provide 100% Satisfaction for our Customers to the best of our ability.This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, and abuse. The warranty perioddepends upon the product. All products are covered by a LIMITED WARRANTYfor a period of thirty (30) days from the date of shipment when purchased fromMilesTek. Customer must notify MilesTek within 30 days from date of shipment ofany defective product. An approved Return Materials Authorization (RMA) numbermust first be obtained from MilesTek prior to the return of any merchandise toMilesTek for inspection under warranty. Shipping charges for all materials returnedunder this Limited Warranty are to be prepaid by the Customer. This warranty islimited to the original purchaser. MilesTek's liability arising out of any sale ofproducts to Customer is expressly limited to either (1) Credit or refund for thepurchase price paid by Customer for such products (without interest), or (2) Repairand/or replacement of such products, found to be defective after inspection byMilesTek at its main headquarters, and such remedies shall be exclusive and in lieuof all others. Implied warranties of fitness for a particular purpose and merchantabilityare specifically excluded and shall not apply. Non-Standard products as defined inSection 1 above are not eligible for return for refund. Products returned for refundmay be subject to a 20% restocking fee. Customer's obligations and MilesTek'sremedies, with respect to defective or nonconforming products, are solely andexclusively as stated herein. Further, no warranty will apply if the Product hasbeen subject to misuse, neglect, accident or modification, or has been solderedor altered in any way.

7. LIMITATION OF LIABILITIESIn no event shall MilesTek be liable for any special, incidental or consequentialdamages of any nature including, but not limited to, damages resulting from lossof profit or revenue, recall costs, claims for service interruptions or failure to sup-ply downtime, testing, installations or removal costs, costs of substitute products,property damage, personal injury, death or legal expenses. Customer's recoveryfrom MilesTek for any claim shall not exceed the purchase price paid by Customerfor the goods, irrespective of the nature of the claim, whether in warrant, contractor otherwise. CUSTOMER SHALL INDEMNIFY, DEFEND AND HOLD MILESTEKHARMLESS FROM ANY CLAIMS brought by any party regarding products sup-plied by MilesTek and incorporated into the customer's product.

8. USE OF PRODUCTS IN LIFE SUPPORT, NUCLEAR AND CERTAIN OTHERAPPLICATIONSProducts are intended for commercial use only. Products are traceable at themanufacturer's level only. Not all products have lot level traceability. Products soldby MilesTek are not designed, intended or authorized for use in life support, lifesustaining, human implantable, nuclear facilities, or other applications in which thefailure of such Products could result in personal injury, loss of life or catastrophicproperty damage. If Customer uses or sells the Products for use in any suchapplications: (1) Customer acknowledges that such use or sale is at Customer'ssole risk; (2) Customer agrees that MilesTek is not liable, in whole or in part, forany claim or damage arising from such use; and (3) Customer agrees to indemnify,defend and hold MilesTek harmless from and against any and all claims, damages,losses, costs, expenses and liabilities arising out of or in connection with suchuse or sale.

9. STATEMENTS AND ADVICEIf statements or advice, technical or otherwise, are offered or given to Customer,such statements or advice will be deemed to be given as an accommodation toCustomer and without charge and MilesTek shall have no responsibility or liabilityfor the content or use of such statements or advice.

10. FORCE MAJEUREMilesTek will not be liable for delays in delivery or for failure to perform its obligationsdue to causes beyond its reasonable control, including, but not limited to, product

allocations, material shortages, labor disputes, transportation delays, unforeseencircumstances, acts of God, acts or omissions of other parties, acts or omissions ofcivil or military authorities, Government priorities, fire, strikes, floods, severe weatherconditions, computer interruptions, terrorism, epidemics, quarantine restrictions,riots, or war. MilesTek's time for delivery or performance will be extended by theperiod of such delay or MilesTek may, at its option, cancel any order or remainingpart thereof without liability by giving notice to Customer.

11. EXPORT CONTROLProducts purchased or received under these Terms and Conditions are subject toexport control laws, restrictions, regulations and orders of the United States.Customer agrees to comply with all applicable export laws, restrictions and regulationsof the United States or foreign agencies or authorities, and shall not export, ortransfer for the purpose of re-export, any product to any prohibited or embargoedcountry, including but not limited to The Balkans, Belarus, Burma, Cote d'Ivoire,Cuba, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Sudan,Syria, and Zimbabwe, or to any denied, blocked, or designated person or entityas mentioned in any such United States or foreign law or regulation. Customerrepresents and warrants that it is not: (i) on any the Denied Persons List (as compiledby the United States Department of Commerce), Specially Designated NationalsList (as compiled by the United States Treasury Department), Debarred PersonsList (as compiled by the United States State Department) or any other UnitedStates or other government list of prohibited persons; and (ii) otherwise prohibitedby United States or other law from purchasing the products or services hereunder.Customer shall be solely responsible to obtain any license to export, re-export orimport as may be required.

12. GENERALThe Terms and Conditions may not be modified or cancelled without MilesTek'swritten agreement. Accordingly goods furnished and services rendered byMilesTek are sold only on the terms and conditions stated herein. The sale ofProducts hereunder will be governed by the Terms and Conditions, notwithstandingcontrary or additional terms and conditions in any order purchase order, planningschedule, acknowledgment, confirmation or any other form or document issuedby either party effecting the purchase and/or sale of Products. Notwithstandingany terms and conditions on Customer's order, the information and conditions onthe Credit Application are controlling over Customer and MilesTek. Any conflictingstatements or terms listed on the Customer purchase orders, invoice, confirmationsor other Customer generated documents ("Customer Documents") whetherheretofore or hereafter submitted are negated by submission of the Credit Applicationand the issuance of credit by MilesTek, and all different or additional terms andconditions contained in any Customer Documents are hereby objected to byMilesTek. MilesTek's performance of any contract is expressly made conditionalon Customer's agreement to MilesTek's Terms and Conditions of Sale, unlessotherwise specifically agreed in writing by MilesTek. In the absence of suchagreement, commencement of performance and/or delivery shall be for Customer'sconvenience only and shall not be deemed or construed to be acceptance ofCustomer's terms and conditions, or any of them. No rights, duties, agreementsor obligations hereunder may be assigned or transferred by operation of law,merger or otherwise, without the prior written consent of MilesTek. The obligations,rights, terms and conditions hereof will be binding on the parties hereto and theirrespective successors and assigns. The waiver of any breach of any term, conditionor covenant hereof or default under any provision hereof will not be deemed toconstitute a waiver of any other term, condition, or covenant contained herein orof any subsequent breach or default of any kind or nature. Any provision hereofwhich is prohibited or unenforceable in any jurisdiction shall, as to such jurisdiction,be ineffective to the extent of such prohibition or unenforceability without invalidatingthe remaining provisions hereof in that jurisdiction or affecting the validity orenforceability of such provision in any other jurisdiction. The Terms and Conditionswill be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State ofTexas and the applicable laws of the United States.
