Question 2, 3 types of Drywall

A. Drywall also known as plasterboard, wall board and gypsum board.Its used to make interior walls and ceiling. Its used in residential and public places alike. B. Green wall has a paper covering that’s water resistant but not water proof. It is like Drywall but its used in damp places like bathrooms and shower stalls .

C. Concrete Backboard is like dry wall but much stronger its used in construction sites . Its used instead of things like mortar. They can be simply pre-formed and ready all you need to do is screw them in.

Question 3, estimating materials for dry walling

Lxw 10% waste divide by gyp rock

Estimating the materials you need to use for dry walling First : You do the Length x Width

Second: Add a extra 10% of the calculated number just incase

Third: Divide the waste by the amount of Gpyroc

Question 4, Laying out and cutting drywall with utility knife

First: Lay down the drywall to where its easy for you to cut

Second: Measure the hole you made, use a drywall t –saw draw a line and cut with utility knife

Question 5, How to hang Drywall and why do you hang drywall on the ceiling before the walls.

The reason you drywall the ceiling first: If you dry wall the walls before the ceiling. The ceiling drywall will have no supports from the wall drywall.

First you measure the wall, then cut a sheet make it about ¼ inch's shorter then opening.

Second: Screw the drywall to the wall/Ceiling.

Third: Make sure you leave a gap between the floor and the drywall. Because if there isnt the dry wall may hit against bumps in the floor.

Fourth: Make sure you remember windows and doors because if the sheet of drywall covers a window or door there's a problem.

Fifth: Cut a corner piece for the corner where the walls meet.

Sixth: Protect the corner pieces with metal corner bead’s

Question 6, Define Concepts

Factory Edge: A factory edge is the edge of a manufactured material that was fabricated at the factory

Lifter: A drywall lift is a piece of equipment that is used for erecting ceilings and walls.

Butt Joint: A butt joint is a joint made by two abutting surfaces that are placed squarely together

Second and third coat spreads: It’s a second and third coat of plaster on the drywall

Question 7, whats a corner and whats it used for.

A corner bead is a piece of metal used to protect the corners of the drywall.

You install it with nails or screws on the 90 degree corner of the drywall

Question 8, Steps to applying plaster to walls

1: Make sure to smooth the drywall joints

2: You also have to fill the gaps with Drywall mesh

3: Mix and Ready the plaster once done put on Hawk

4: Put the plaster on the wall, and start spreading over wall, Cover the surface with plaster completely.

5:Then you have to smooth out the plaster once smooth. Don’t touch it when its smooth and let it dry.

6: Apply another layer of plaster and smooth again, and then keep smoothing the finish

7: Sand it down to have a even more smooth surface.

Question 9, How to tape inside corners.

1: Spread the plaster, make sure to get both sides of the corner.

2: Cut tape to fit the corner, fold so it fits the corner better.

3: Plaster over the tape, wait to dry then sand over to have a smooth surface.

Question 10, Explain how to patch a hole in drywall.

1: Get rid of any loss pieces of drywall in the hole.

2: Nail the supports where your going to put the new piece of drywall.

3: Cut a piece of drywall to fit the hole that was made

4: Plaster the holes between the new piece of drywall and old drywall.

5: Put tape over the plaster and plaster the tape.

6: Once done and all plaster is dry sand it down to make it smooth.
