ANVESHAN 2011 and NRITYANK: the

Dance chapter

Drupad promotion is an event management

organization in central India that works to provideplatform for artists to showcase their talent as well aspursues the mission of Dance Literacy.With this aim Drupad celebrated World Dance Day(29th April) by organizing Anveshan 2011 a panel

discussion amongst the stalwarts of dance and musicin MadhyaPradesh. The panel discussion was held onthe topic “Instilling Dance and Music in the path of life.” headed by noted dance academician andrevered Kathak guru Shri Puru Dadheech.the panelincuded Dr Suchitra Harmalkar, Shri Madhukar Jagtap,Govind Potghan, Shubhda Marathe, Shri SidarthDwivedi and Manjusha Johari. The event chief guestswere music college principal Dr. Rama Awasthi andShri Shankarr Lalwani the president of Lok Sanskrutik Manch.

What the panelist said….Shri Puru Dadheech: “accepting the challenges in thepast by the dancers led to the freedom of dancing intodays life..but to utilizing this freedom is upto thenew generatrion as well as it is important to maintainthe degree of efforts to create enthusiasm towardsmaintaing the traditionality and creativity…”

Shri Govind Potghan: “the dance and music should betaken as a serious discipline yet it should be directedtowards the joys and innoce like that of a child…..Diversified knowledge gaining in dance and music …along with the direction of right guru…”Manjusha Johari: “music (vocal and instrumental) anddance there independent existence is unimaginable

yet they exist independently but wen they walk handin hand. Indian dance and music is to achieve internalsatisfaction whereas western dances go in forexternal satisfaction…”

Sidarth Dwivedi: “bringing up dances from smallesttowns and villages is very important for creatingawareness and bringing life is very important….Taking up responsibility to create dance in everypersons life is the duty of every dancer… emphasis onexercise before dancing was his advice to kids whoare learning dance…”Shubhda Marathe: “creating patience andperseverance to learn dance has become veryimportant… it’s the task of every artist … implement

ways to make people take interest in dance andmusic…”

Followed by the panel discussion the dancerspresented various Indian classical dance items inBharatnatyam and Kathak repertoires.Silambu: Dance drama visualized and choreographedby Ashish Pillai saw the amalgamation of Bharatnatyam, Kathak and Mohiniattam in the

portrayal of the characters of Madhavi, Kannagi andKovanal played by Tapisha Jain, Sonal Arora andAshish Pillai. The dance drama was based on notedTamil literary work Silappadikaram wee theprosperous city of Madurai is burnt and destroyed byand anger and chastity of the heroin Kannagi.This followed by Greeshma shroffs Vinayak pushpanjali in Raga Amritvarshini and Tala Adi.Kathak by Nivedita Padya showcased nuances of Kathak , which culminated in elegant ‘Kajri’, ShivTandavam Padam in Raga Revathy and Adi tala werealso lauded. Shabdam Devi Thaye in Ragamalika andTala Misrachapu and Jathiswaram in Raga Rassali andAdi tala wee worth mentioning in the Bharatnatyamrepertoire…

Drupad Promotion is the continuing saga of success of Drupad Dance

Troupe (est. in 2007), Drupad dance academy (est. in 2008) and Drupad

School of Bharatnatyam (est. in 2010). Drupad is acknowledged as one of

the best institute of performing arts across the country since its firstappearance at national stage. The name Drupad in art field today finds

respect for it brought with it a cultural renaissance. The aim of Drupad to

find a niche for dance and the urgency to create awareness and skills led to

the birth of Drupad promotions. It not only looks forward to spread the

international dance of India but also help other forms of art find solace in

Drupad. It goes across to fine arts like; clay modeling, broom art painting etc

and people who are hidden behind the four walls to the common man for

appreciation. It provides to those unprivileged ones with platform and

learning aids to understand the various art form in the art thirsty land of

Madhya Pradesh.
