WHAT IS A DROUGHT? A drought is a period of time when there is no kind of

precipitation.

Droughts involve a lot of dryness. (Ex: no water, snow, etc.)

What causes a drought to occur is the lack of rainfall.

Droughts are also caused by no moisture in the air. (dryness)

HOW LONG DO DROUGHTSLAST?Droughts can last months, years, or as little as a couple of days or

weeks. It just depends where in the world the drought is.

Droughts also depend on the climate of the area.

DO DROUGHTS AFFECTEARTH?

Droughts affect earth in many ways. One way is that all farms get

dried out and their owners and farmers have to migrate. Another waydroughts affect earth is that it causes less water to be on earth since

there is no precipitation during a drought.

HOW TO DROUGHTS AFFECTPEOPLE?

This affects people because the less rain, the less water supply we

have. For farmers, the more droughts that occur around there area,

the more times they have to migrate which means they lose moremoney every time they have to migrate.

CALIFORNIA DROUGHT The California drought is the most recent U.S. drought. It occurred

in April of 2013. A lot of droughts also occur in Africa.

POSITIVE FACTS ABOUTDROUGHTS

Since droughts contain no water, it helps prevent chemicals from

flowing into sources of water. This is a good thing because if

chemicals go into fresh water, then we will get sick.

ways. One way is that they destroy animal

shelter. This means there is a higher

chance of animals dying.

Wild fires impact Texas the most. This is

because there are a lot of trees in Texas.

Another reason a wild fire can occur is
