Drop forged chains

The drop orged chains supplied by Bechtelconsists o orged steel links. These links may

be equiped with all kinds o plastic or steel scra-

pers.

Links are available made o the ollowing materials:

ST 52.3 - C45 hardened - 16 Mn Cr 5 - 20 Mn Cr 5 - 18 Ni Cr Mo 5 - 42 Cr Mo 4

The breaking load depends on the chain material.

Scrapers

Drop orged chains as well as double drag link

chains may be equipped with plastic and/or

steel scrapers.For heavy-duty use, either o these chains may

be equipped with welded steel scrapers. Double

drag link chains may also be equipped with a

bent steel scraper, attached to the outer link.

Advantages of plastic scrapersnoise-reduced, 60 db(A) measured at a 1 m distance,

low rictional resistance, saving up to 20 % o the energy,

less costly, less wear and tear o the bottom plate and the chain,

fexible, bendable under high pressure,

eliminates the need or guiding and wearing strips,

very quickly and easily assembled or replaced.

Chains with plastic scrapers have quite a ew ad-

vantages. The plastic scrapers are made o wear-

resistant nylon and are fexible. The act that the

chain rests on the plastic scrapers eliminates the

steel-on-steel contact.

Plastic scrapers are temperature resistant be-

tween -20 C and + 70 C. The special zytel scrap-

er is temperature resistant up to +110 C. The ol-

lowing table shows the various dierent types o

plastic scrapers, together with the corresponding

chain.
