Floor Section
The floor section offers sufficient space for the passenger in
the wheelchair. The surface of the floor section is lower than
the floor of the vehicle. This ensures that the passenger has
sufficient headroom.
Deployed Ramp
In the completely deployed position, the ramp provides a
slope, via which the wheelchair can be easily pushed or driven
into the vehicle.
Section 1. Conversion Description
Page 7
Ramp in Vertical Position
The tailgate can be closed when
the access ramp is in the vertical
position. The ramp leaves sufficient
space for a passenger or an empty
wheelchair. In this position, the
frame of the access ramp fills the
gap in the vehicle’s rear bumper.
Ramp in Flat Cargo Position
The ramp can be folded down
into the vehicle so that it is at
the same level as the floor of the
vehicle . The floor section is almost
completely covered. This creates a
level luggage compartment floor.
The vehicle can be used without
difficulty to transport goods and
other items weighing up to 220 lbs.

Section 2. Wheelchair Tie-Down Belts & Securement
Two electrically operated belts, for securing a wheelchair, are fitted to the front area of the floor section (see figure shown below). The electrically operated belts can be pulled out when the ramp is fully deployed and the indicator lamp in the rocker switch is lit. See Rocker Switch Controls on the following page.
Mercedes-Benz Metris WAV Operating Instructions
Rocker Switch and Indicator Light
The electronically operated belts that assist with loading a wheelchair passenger is controlled by a rocker switch. The rocker control switch allows for the belts to be pulled out. The switch is normally fitted in the back of the vehicle on the right hand side. The switch is illuminated when turned on.

Section 3. Parking Safety
Mercedes-Benz Metris WAV Operating Instructions
TRAFFIC, SPACING & WEATHER CONDITIONS
A number of risks are involved for the passenger and operator when using the access ramp on public highways. Therefore:• When the parking the vehicle ensure that other road traffic is affected as little as possible.• Park the vehicle such that as little danger as possible is presented by other road traffic.• Make certain that there is sufficient space behind the access ramp.• Switch the vehicle’s engine OFF • Apply the handbrake before opening the tailgate and operating the access ramp.• Use extreme caution in wet or icy conditions that may cause slippage on the access ramp by the wheelchair or attendant.
METRIS DISTANCE CONTROL WARNING SYSTEM
The rear parking distance control warning characteristic is changed by fitting the ramp. The parking distance control first warns at a shorter distance from obstacles than usual. Keep this change in warning characteristics in mind when using the vehicle in reverse.
Page 11
RAMP SLOPE
In the completely deployed position, the ramp provides a sloped angle, via which the wheelchair can be easily pushed or driven into the vehicle. This slope also creates a condition where the wheelchair can roll back and out of control.
Read ALL operating instructions in sections ‘Loading the Passenger / Wheelchair’ and ‘Securing the Passenger / Wheelchair’ before proceeding.
Allow for the ramp to be fully deployed and for the wheelchair and attendant to have
plenty of room to safely maneuver in and around any obstacles.
