Drive Clean Taxi How much money can I receive?

• Incentives cover 80% of the incremental cost of a

new vehicle, or 80% of the cost of a conversion,

capped at $10,000 per vehicle

• The program is funded at $1,275,000 in incentives

• Approved Vendor submits Voucher Request and required documents to VPC

• Vehicle Purchaser Submits Bi-Annual Reporting for 3 years from date of purchase or conversion

Step ① Preliminary Voucher Approval

• Approved Vendor submits Voucher Request along with purchase order, quote, or invoice.

• VPC verifies application and information is complete and accurate, vehicle/conversion is eligible for the program, and purchaser’s/operator’s address is within 6 eligible counties.

• VPC confirms that purchaser/operator is in good standing with BACP to operate a taxicab, livery vehicle, or other public vehicle.

• If in good standing, funding is reserved for the voucher request and Voucher ID is assigned.

Step ② Voucher Approval

• Approved Vendor submits signed Vendor and Purchaser Terms & Conditions, plus other information, such as:

• Anticipated delivery date

• Other incentive funds

• VPC verifies signatures and information provided .

Step ③ Voucher Redemption Processing

Once a vehicle is ready to be delivered:

• Approved Vendor confirms price of vehicle/conversion and date of delivery/title transfer date.

• VPC reviews information provided and issues the Voucher Redemption Form.


Step ④ Voucher Redemption Approval

Once a vehicle has been purchased and delivered:

• Approved Vendor submits the following items to receive Redemption Approval:

• Signed Voucher Redemption Form-generated by the VPC• Signed Final Invoice-must list voucher deduction• Financial Documentation-copy of check, financial/lease

agreement, etc.• DMV Registration-address must be within the 6 eligible counties• Delivery Bill of Lading / Delivery Receipt• Vehicle Line Setting Ticket or Factory Build Sheet / CARB Executive

Order or EPA Verification Letter• Inspection Photos-complete vehicle, odometer, VIN plate, engine

tag/conversion kit tag

• VPC reviews all documentation provided and follows-up with Approved Vendor. After all documentation is accepted, redemption is approved.


Step ⑤ Voucher Reimbursement

• Once Redemption Approval is granted, VPC submits voucher to CALSTART for Voucher Reimbursement.

• Approved Vendor receives reimbursement check in the mail from CALSTART.

Clean Fuel + Wheelchair Accessible = More $$$

• Chicago licensed taxicabs are eligible for funding from BOTH Drive Clean Taxi and

Accessibility Fund programs.

• The vehicle just needs to meet the criteria of both programs.

• A vehicle that is converted to a wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) taxicab is eligible for

up to $15,000 in reimbursement for the conversion costs.

• A brand new factory manufactured wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) taxicab is eligible

for $20,000 in reimbursement for the cost of the vehicle.

• If the WAV taxicab is also powered by CNG or electric fuel, the vehicle may also receive

reimbursement from the Drive Clean Taxi program.
