Drilling is a cutting process that uses a drill bit to cut or enlarge a hole of circular cross-section in solidmaterials. The drill bit is a rotary cutting tool, often multipoint. The bit is pressed against the workpieceand rotated at rates from hundreds to thousands of revolutions per minute. This forces the cutting edge

against the workpiece, cutting off chips (swarf) from the hole as it is drilled.

Grinding is an abrasive machining process that uses a grinding wheel as the cutting tool .

A wide variety of machines are used for grinding:

    Hand-cranked knife-sharpening stones (grindstones )

Handheld power tools such as angle grinders and die grinders

Various kinds of expensive industrial machine tools called grinding machines

Bench grinders often found in residential garages and basements

A sander is a power tool used to smooth surfaces by abrasion with sandpaper . Sanders have a

means to attach the sandpaper and a mechanism to move it rapidly contained within a housing with

means to hand-hold it or fix it to a workbench. Woodworking sanders are usually powered

electrically, and those used in auto-body repair work by compressed air . There are many different

types of sanders for different purposes. Multi-purpose power tools and electric drills may have

    sander attachments.

Building wiring is the electrical wiring and associated devices such as switches, meters and light

fittings used in buildings or other structures. Electrical wiring uses insulated conductors .

Wiring safety codes vary by country, and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is

attempting to standardize wiring amongst member countries. Wires and cables are rated by thecircuit voltage , temperature, and environmental conditions (moisture, sunlight, oil, chemicals) in

which they can be used. Colour codes are used to distinguish line, neutral and ground (earth) wires

Welding is a fabrication or sculptural process that joins materials, usually metals or thermoplastics ,

by causing coalescence . This is often done by melting the workpieces and adding a filler material to

form a pool of molten material (the weld pool ) that cools to become a strong joint,

with pressure sometimes used in conjunction with heat , or by itself, to produce the weld. This is in

contrast with soldering and brazing , which involve melting a lower-melting-point material between

the workpieces to form a bond between them, without melting the work pieces

Cutting is the separation of a physical object, into two or more portions, through the application of

    an acutely directed force .

Implements commonly used for cutting are the knife and saw , or in medicine and science

the scalpel and microtome . However, any sufficiently sharp object is capable of cutting if it has

uniquely clean cut in the shortest possible timewhile using a minimum of force. Precise to themillimetre, vibration-free cutting, no thermal

bluing and no burring precluding the need for subsequentmachining. You can cut a thin sheet metal of the type used incar bodies, tank farms and the tank construction sector, steelcable, thin-walled profile sections and pipes made of stainlesssteel and non-ferrous metals.
