DREAM BIG COACHING QUESTIONS

If you are going to have a goal it might as well be a big, hairy,

audacious one!

Dream goals could be defined as “Things I

think I want to do but are not goals”. As yet

there has been no commitment or perhaps,

not a lot of thought, it is still on the ‘some

day one day’ list.

Fantasia came about because Walt Disney

was concerned about Mickey Mouse’s

career. Because he was the first Disney

character, and Walt did his voice, he was almost an alter-ego.

Walt Disney had 3 states – dreamer, realistic, critic. Adopt a dreamer state for

the start of this exercise. Anything is possible!

Daring to dream creates new possibilities.

The “What If” Frame and “As If” frame are great for dreaming.

The “What If” is within the Thinking Partner hat.

“What if Peter Pan grew up?”

“What if man could walk on the moon”

What if we could have a phone that was also a camera, and played music and I

could receive my emails on it? What if in fact it were a mini computer! What

could people do then!

“What if I could travel AND own my own home -what would that be like”

“Let’s think as if you could do that now…

- What would you do first”

- How would you stand”

- What would have changed for you?”

The “As If” frame allows us to dream in the associated state. Dream as if it

were already occurring.

START:

Can Using Wheel of Life– list some dreams for each.

Perhaps ask: “What do you want the rest of your life to be about?”

“If you could have or do whatever you wanted – what would your big

audacious goal in life be?”

“If you could look back on your life what would you have done that would

make you proud and know your journey had been worthwhile?”

“What do you dream of doing.”

“I believe we all have a journey on this earth. What is your life journey?”

As a Coach check ecology, check significance, check motivation, check that it is

big enough!

BIG DREAMS:

“If you could do whatever you set out to do, you could only succeed, what

would you do?

“If your annual income was your monthly income what would you do?”

“If you dreamed in terms of potential instead of current capabilities, how

would your dreams change?”

FUN:

Because not just girls wanna have fun!

“What are 10 things you want to do in your life just for fun?”

“What do you want to create in your life, just for the joy of doing it?”

“If fun were the focus for your life’s achievements what would you be doing?”

REGRETS:

“Imagine you are 80 years old. Which of the dreams on your list would you

regret NOT having done?”

“If nothing were to change, you continued as you are for the rest of your life,

how would you feel about that come retirement?”

“You have discussed your concern about pursuing this dream. What would the

cost be of NOT pursuing it?”

QUESTIONS FOR BARRIERS TO DREAMING

“What have you done in your life that you have really enjoyed? How could you

get more of that?”

“It seems to me that you are limiting yourself – what is preventing you from

allowing yourself to just dream for a while?”
