Scien,fic  diagrams  •  Scien-fic  diagrams  can  

be  used  in  laboratory  reports  to  show  how  equipment  was  set  up.  

•  It  is  important  for  the  drawings  to  be  clear  and  easy  to  understand.  

•  There  are  certain  rules  that  should  be  followed  when  drawing  a  scien,fic  diagram  so  that  it  can  be  understood  by  other  scien,sts.  

Rule  1  –  Always  use  a  sharp  pencil

Rule  2  –  Draw  all  straight  lines  using  a  ruler  

Rule  3  –  Draw  using  single  firm  lines  NOT  jagged  sketchy  lines

Rule  4  –  Diagrams  should  be  simple  two-­‐dimensional  (2-­‐D)  representa,ons

Rule  5  –  Do  NOT  close  off  openings  of  containers

Rule  7  –  All  equipment  should  be  labelled  with  straight  lines
