Todays teenagers spends more time listening to music

or watching TV than socializing. Music is part and parcel

of the teenagerspersonalities. Itsshaping their language,

behavior the way they dress, defining them as part of aspecial clique creating the environment for their

gatherings and probably one of the most important things

is that they have models in the image of the singers who

    become their idols.

Music does not only express feelings and personalities

but itsa way of shutting off the world around you. Teens

generally have problems with parents, and listening tomusic, using an IPod is an easy way out from a

    parents iritating chatter.

In my opinion music is definitely a part of us and

recommends us social beings, but nothing should influenceus so much in life. We have to make the difference between

what is right and what is wrong, between what is good and

    what isnt good for us.

Theblues, this singular style of music is

exclusively a creation of the Blacks. To be blue

means to be sad and the blues singer,

accompanying himself with an occasional guitar

chord or harmonica melody, sang about some

unhappy, event which had happened to him, his

troubles with women, cotton or whiskey. Thistonality consisting of bluenoteshas had a

great influence on jazz and on

    contemporary pop music.

The American city of New Orleans is

considered to be the birthplace of jazz. In a

city where music was every where andarmy surplus instruments could be

obtained at low cost, the Blacks with their great

sense of rhythm and love of music created their ownbands and by the end of the 19th century the black

bands were more in demand than the white bands.

As a matter of fact, the Black are the real creators of

    jazz.

Over the last forty years rock-and-roll has had anenormous effect on peoples lives, and especially on the

kind of clothes they wear. The first group to be seen in the

newspapers in the late 50s were the Teddy Boys. Theirclothes were supposed to be similar the those worn in

Edwardian England: long jackets with velvet collars,

drainpipe trousers and brightly colored socks. Their shoes

had very thick rubber soles and their hair was swept

upwards and back wards. Before the arrival of the Teddy

    Boys young people had usually

    worn what they liked.

In the 1980s many new bands emerged; and also old

ones reappeared. Heavy metal music is easily recognized by

its high volume and use of electric guitars. Dancing issimply shaking your head violently to the rhythm of the
