The draft LTP 2012-22

• What is it? – Long-Term Plan (LTP) details what Council will

deliver over the next 10 years– Allocates budgets to projects and operations– First opportunity for the Council to set its own

direction– The LTP is revised every three years– Begins to implement the Auckland Plan– Includes the Local Board Agreements (LBAs)

How we developed the draft LTP• Considered Local Board Plans and the

Auckland Plan during preparation• Initial feedback on draft policies and plans

took place with specific groups during September 2011

• Aligns with the Mayor’s vision to create the world’s most liveable city

Key issues for consultation

There are 5 key areas of focus:

– Local communities– Transport: draft RLTP & alternative

funding– Economic development– Urban development and natural

environment– Finance

Funding

• New system is based on the principle of fairness and aims to create a level playing field for everyone

• Rates – increase of 3.6% in 2012/13, then 4.9 % in subsequent years

• Universal Annual General Charge - $350• Debt

• What do you want to achieve?• Do you support or oppose something in

the draft plan? If so, explain why• What are your ideas? How do you think

they should be funded? Who might be affected by it? Outline the pros and cons of your proposal

• Use examples, facts or professional opinions where possible

• Submissions close 23 March at 4pm• Verbal Hearings take place 10 April - 7

May • Council considers feedback and amends

the draft LTP• Final LTP and local board agreements
