Welcome

Dear FKC Colleagues,

We warmly welcome you to the 2013 Florida Kindergarten Council’s

Annual Convention in Orlando. I hope you joined us for last night’s

“Meet and Greet” as it was a wonderful opportunity to become ac-

quainted with outstanding educators and administrators from many of

our member schools, as well as become introduced to our Board of

Directors. Our Board is always interested in meeting you and learning

about ways in which we can better serve your school.

This year’s theme, The World is our Playground, helps us to

acknowledge how fortunate we are to have our world at our fingertips.

We now have the opportunity to learn anytime or anywhere, and

through these opportunities, learn about and collaborate with others

real-time, face-to-face or virtually. Engaging our students in learning

and playing through developmentally appropriate practice continues to

be a focus of the Florida Kindergarten Council. Today, however, we

extend ourselves and capture the ideas of others with different per-

spectives through global professional learning communities.

The Florida Kindergarten Council shares this vision in promoting a

passion for education. Please join us as we celebrate young children

together, and develop a deeper understanding of how we can continue

to have excellence in teaching as we meet the needs of the whole

child.

Sincerely,

Arvi Balseiro, Catherine Coos, Anita Fine, Donna Tobey, and Kavita
