“Information only becomes knowledge in the hands of someone who knows what to do with it.” The MSc(LIM) is a new program designed to prepare candidates for professional work in the information sector; the fastest growing area of the economy. It is the only local university with library and information studies programs at the Bachelor and post-graduate levels.

Course structure: Course structure: Students complete 8 modulesStudents complete 8 modules

Each module consists of a minimum of 24 contact hours or equivalent. The MSc(LIM) involves a minimum of 300 hours of prescribed work.

* Students are required to complete 8 modules which may comprise the following:

• 4 cores + 2 specialist modules + 1 elective + independent project

• 4 cores + 1 specialist module + dissertation (which is equivalent to 3 modules)

The program extends over one academic year of full-time

study, or two, but no more than four consecutive years of part-time study.

• Candidates holding a recognized Higher Diploma, Professional Diploma or Associate Degree in any discipline are eligible

• Candidates are required to complete courses totaling 120 credits in 2 years

• 9 credits in Language Enhancement courses• 96 credits in Core Courses (including 6 credits

in Professional Experience and 6 credits in a Project)
