ABOUT B.M.S COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING

The B.M.S. College of Engineering is the first private engineering college in India, established by the great visionary and philanthropistLate Sri. B. M. Sreenivasaiah in the year 1946, located near the historical Bull Temple in Basavanagudi, in the centre of Bangalore, Karnataka. BMSCE is an autonomous institute affiliated to VTU and approved by AICTE, New Delhi. The Institution is in its 75th year of dedicated service in the field of Engineering Education. DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

The department of Mechanical Engineering came into existence in the year of 1946. The department has 50+ well experienced, qualified, and dedicated faculties with specialization covering various areas of Mechanical Engineering. The department has well-equipped laboratories and workshops and also has many research projects sponsored by various organizations. The department offers three postgraduate (M.Tech) programs in Machine Design, Manufacturing Science and Engineering, and Thermal Engineering. The department is recognized as a research centre by VTU, Belgaum, and QIP Centre for the Ph.D. program by AICTE. The primary research areas are Fluid flow and Heat transfer, MR Fluids, Smart Materials and MMC, Thermoacoustic Refrigeration, and Structural Dynamics.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

This FDP aims at giving a comprehensive understanding and critical insights on the recent advances in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and its applications in emerging thrust areas and the related effective techniques explored in fluid dynamics. The inculcation of an interdisciplinary approach to tackle challenging problems and understanding current computational methods are essential in achieving the desired objectives.

Current challenges and research aspects of CFD in hypersonic flow, nuclear reactor, gas turbines, electronic cooling, CO2 power cycle, to name a few, will be covered by academic and industrial experts. The FDP content is designed for faculty, industry personnel, and the student community pursuing research, higher studies, and innovative projects in CFD problems in different engineering disciplines like Mechanical, Aerospace, Biological, and Chemical engineering.
