Orientation Program under AMRUT
INTRODUCTION
Dr MCRHRD Institute, Hyderabad conducted the Individ-
ual Capacity Building Programme under AMRUT in three
phases of training. In the first quarter during the year
2016-17, Orientation Programmes on AMRUT for a dura-
tion of three days was conducted for the states of Madh-
ya Pradesh, Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh, An-
dhra Pradesh and Telangana which has been supported
by the Ministry of Urban Development. The three-day
course particularly had two main concentrations – one
was familiarizing the participants with urban develop-
ment strategies within the ambit of the AMRUT Mission
and second was introducing the best practices in mission
priority areas. The sessions were planned in such a way
that they provide insights to the participants with the
concept and aspects involved for effective implementa-
tion of the AMRUT Mission.
DESIGN OF MODULE
The course module and reading material was developed
based on the outline shared by the National Institute of
Urban Affairs (NIUA) and discussions with the State Mis-
sion Management Unit. The three day schedule was di-
vided into 12 sessions, each session conducted for 60 to
90 minutes in duration. Sessions were followed by ques-
tion and answers focusing on issues, solutions and expe-
rience sharing by the participants.
SUBJECTS COVERED
Urban Management –Key Issues and Challenges
Financing options for Urban Development,
AMRUT Reforms,
AMRUT Objectives and guidelines,
Preparation of SLIP and SAAP,
Convergence with other Schemes,
Best Practices in NMT, Water Supply, Sewerage, SWM
PEDAGOGY
The pedagogy followed for conducting training programs
included interactive lectures, case study presentations,
participant discussions, group exercises & presentations,
flip class, experience sharing, documentaries and films
etc. In addition to these sessions, quick assessments
were conducted in the form of pre and post- test which
helped as knowledge checks for participants at the begin-
ning and end of the course to test their understanding of
AMRUT Mission.
