Marnie was a 28-year-old pediatric resident at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston when she passed away from what is considered one of the deadliest forms of human cancers, a glioblastoma (GBM). Marnie’s mission in appearing on Houston Medical, the nationally acclaimed ABC television series, was to put a human face to brain cancer and to give strength and optimism to those who were ill. She succeeded beyond her wildest expectations and made us all better people for having known her. Marnie died on Aug. 23, 2002. Let us continue the wonderful work she began. DR. THE COURSEThe run starts outside the Coca-Cola entrance of Reliant Stadium. Watch the sky for Life Flight® to lead the way. The scenic course winds around Reliant Park and down Murworth, ending with the runners and walkers entering Reliant Center. The course is certified. Runners who are not chip timed are responsible for their own times and shoultd pay attention to the time clock when crossing the finish line. The race is closed to all wheels except noncompetitive wheelchairs. Strollers are allowed on the 5K and 1K courses but are required to stay behind the runners. Pets are prohibited.

PARKINGFREE PARKING will be available until 8 a.m. Vehicles must enter Reliant Park through:(1) Gate 10 from Kirby at McNee – Red Lot(2) Gate 11 from Kirby right before the Holiday Inn – Red Lot (3) Gate 3 from Fannin at Holly Hall – Orange Lot(4) Gate 4 from Fannin at Naomi – Orange LotGuests parking in the Orange Lot will need to walk to the Start Line.PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY TO AVOID CONGESTION!

POST-RACE PARTYImmediately following the conclusion of the run, a party will be held in Reliant Center. Enjoy live entertainment, delicious food, activities for children and the awards presentation.

HOTELReserve a queen or king suite the weekend of the Run through the “Run for the Rose” block, $99 per night, at the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Houston by the Galleria (5353 Westheimer Road, 77056). TEAMSA team consists of a corporation, organization or family that runs/walks to publicize their group. There is no limit to the size of a team and no extra charge. Participants areencouraged to wear clothing that publicizes their group.

AWARDSAn award will be given to the overall male and female finisher. Age group awards will be given to 1st through 3rd place male and female finishers in the following categories: 12 and under; 13–14; 15–19; 20–29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60–69; 70 and over.

To be eligible for an award, participant must be chip timed and registered for the competitive 5K Run.

All children participating in the 1K Family Run/Walk will receive a medal. All wheelchair finishers will receive an award. There will be no duplication of awards.
