Dr. Garry Aslanyan (Canada) Dr. Garry Aslanyan represents the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) on the WFPHA OHWG. He is trained in dentistry, public health and health policy/systems and is a certified specialist in Public Health Dentistry with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO), Canada. Dr. Aslanyan is a Fellow and currently the Councillor and Examiner for the specialty of Dental Public Health of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC).

In 2009, Dr. Aslanyan joined the Special Programme on Research and Training on Tropical Diseases (TDR) of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland where he is responsible for setting knowledge management and partnership framework policies of the programme. From 2007 to 2009, Dr. Aslanyan worked at the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) as Principal Advisor of the International Public Health Division, and from 2000 to 2007 as the Team Leader of the Health Systems, Research and Analysis at the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). He is cross appointed as an Adjunct Professor of international health at the University of Ottawa, Canada and is the past-president of the Ontario Public Health Association (OPHA). Dr. Aslanyan currently chairs the Policy and Advocacy Committee of the Canadian Association of Public Health Dentistry (CAPHD).
