DPVR E3C Setup & Installation Instructions

Before Setup: If you have not already downloaded Steam VR to your computer, go ahead and

do so now as the download may take a while depending on your connection speed. To

download Steam VR:

1. Launch Steam

2. Hover over the “Library” tab at the top left of the Steam window and select “Tools”

3. Locate “Steam VR” in the list of available tools and install it

Step One

You will need to download and install the DPVR Assistant software before connecting the E3C

to your computer.

Download the latest version of the DPVR Assistant at http://www.dpvr.net/asisstant.html.

Once downloaded, open the DPVRAssistant zip file (compressed file) and extract the

“DPVRAssitantSetup” file. Depending on your computer’s setup you may need to drag-and-drop

the file out of the zip folder or click an “Extract” button.

Step Two

Launch the DPVRAssitantSetup file. Depending on how your Windows setup is configured, you

may receive a warning message stating that Windows Defender Smartscreen prevented an

unrecognized app from starting. Rest assured, the DPVR Assistant software is safe to run. This

warning message is caused by the DPVR Assistant software being new to the American market

and not yet widely known.

Click the “More Info” link under the text and then click “Run Anyway” at the bottom of the

window. You might also receive a prompt from Windows User Account Control to allow the

software to run. Confirm this as well.

Step Three

You should now see the DPVR Assistant setup software. To install to the default installing

location, simply click “Install Now.” You can choose an alternate install location by clicking the

“Options” link in the bottom right corner.

The DPVR Assistant will then prompt you to disable your antivirus software during the

installation, as some antivirus programs might see the DPVR Assistant as a threat.

Click the OK button and wait while the DPVR Assistant is installed. Installation speed will

depend on your computer’s hardware, but should only take a few minutes at most. You may or

may not be asked to reboot your computer after installation.

Step Four

Launch the DPVR Assistant. You will be prompted to run a compatibility check the first time you

launch it.

Once the compatibility check is completed you can close the results window by clicking the X in

top right corner.

You will then be presented with the “E3C Novice Wizard” basic setup guide, which is shown

below. It will provide some basic instructions on the different parts of the E3C device. Simply

click through and read the pages to familiarize yourself with the device. On the 4th page you will

be prompted to actually connect the headset to the computer.

Once connected successfully, the “Next” button will light up and you can progress to the next

page:

Step Five

Now we will connect the NOLO motion tracking system (the controllers, headset marker, and

base station). If you do not have the NOLO (you only bought the E3C, not the gaming combo)

you should click the “Skip” link under the “Next” button and go to the next step.

Go ahead and mount the headset marker to the clip on top of the headset, as shown above, and

connect the NOLO cable to the marker.

Click “Next”.

You will be prompted to enable NOLO support. Click “Enable Now” to do so.

The NOLO software drivers will begin to install and you may receive another Windows Security

prompt to allow the NOLO to install.

Click the “Install” button to proceed.

Once the NOLO setup is complete, click the “Next” button.

The next page will show you how to disable the NOLO if you need to turn off the NOLO link for

any reason.

Click “Next” and you will have completed the E3C Novice Wizard. Your headset is now properly

connected to your computer, but it still needs to be calibrated.

Step Six

Start the NOLO calibration by activating the base station and the two controllers and placing

them on the desk in front of you.

The power buttons for the controllers are the small buttons with the circle on them on the front of

the controller. The base station’s power button is on the top and may be hard to see unless you

tilt the device towards you.

Once they are all turned on, they should show green “ready” lights on the DPVR Assistant

dashboard, but you still need to pair them to each other.

Note: the base station will be softly vibrating, this is normal.

The pairing process is actually done without using the DPVR Assistant software, but you can

view the pairing instructions (which will be shown here) by clicking the menu button next to one

of the controllers in the DPVR Dashboard, as shown here:

Chose “Calibrate Controller” and the following instructions will be displayed on screen.

Ensure all the NOLO devices are turned on.

Press and hold the button on the back of the base station until the Power Button starts to flash

green. The base station will continue to vibrate during the pairing process.

Press and hold the pair button on the left side of each controller until it vibrates once. You will

likely need to use your fingernail or a small, thin object to push the pair button.

Press and hold the pair button on the headset marker until the LED light blinks once.

Finally, return to the base station and quickly press the button on the back one time.

After several seconds the lights on the controllers and the headset marker will turn green if the

pairing was successful.

Step Seven

You can now launch Steam VR, which may require some additional setup or adjusting, which

Steam VR will provide instructions for.

If at any point you find the controllers have become off-center or simply cannot be seen, you

can recalibrate them by holding both controllers directly in front of you, pointed at the base

station, and double-tapping the menu buttons (the one with the three lines) of both controllers.

This will reset their positioning.
